Tributo a Pink Floyd || Tribute to Pink Floyd

^{A NIGHT ON THE WALL, this is the name of this concert prepared by the Sui Quacka project in which I participated as a chorister, programmer and bassist, an event held at the María Rodríguez Theater in the city of Cumaná - Venezuela and which included the participation of Rayuela Theater Group under the direction of Orlando Rodríguez and Milred Mambié.}

^{The concert was based on the film "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, showing parts of the film in a multimedia that accompanied the staging and music of the album, with the participation of actors who recreated some scenes, some through choreography and others against the light. From a technical point of view, the synchronization was essential, the entrances with the Multimedia, as well as the moment in which the actors entered the scene, required a very precise direction from different angles of the stage; box, stage, backstage, even in the dressing rooms. At each of these points in the theater there was an assistant with a radio in hand, ensuring that everything worked like a single machine. We all had a role to play, we all had important roles on and off stage. And it is that the discipline also plays a preponderant role in creating a montage of that magnitude.}

^{The trials were also conducted under certain criteria. Putting together the songs of an album by the band Pink Floyd is not anything. Analyzing each element in the production of the album and trying to recreate it with the available resources was quite a challenge. The album "The Wall", apart from the instrumentation of the Pink Floyd band, has some very experimental sound effects, which create a unique atmosphere and that characterizes that album without a doubt. So as a programmer I had to carry out this work and try to reproduce these effects that would mark the aesthetics of the concert.}

^{For this task, I used a device that we had in the studio and that we had never used in other events due to its complexity. I am talking about the classic Roland MC-303, a groovebox that not only allows you to create interesting Beats, but also has an extensive library of special effects such as transitions, textures, voices, etc. From that bank of effects I used to give life to helicopters, shots, explosions, loops, among many other elements that were required to recreate the sound dimensions. The Multimedia was in charge of Luis "Anthology" Márquez, an excellent editor with whom I worked on radio many times and who is an inveterate perfectionist.}

La participación de Rayuela le dio a los espectadores otro elemento visual en el escenario. Las coreografías diseñadas por Mildred Mambié estuvieron bajo la dirección de Orlando Rodríguez y estuvo formada por 10 actores que dramatizaron algunas escenas importantes de la película, como por ejemplo la escena de la escuela (Another Brick On The Wall), donde hicieron una representación coreográfica del videoclip. Entre otras como la de Floyd sentado frente al televisor (One of My Turn) interpretada por el actor Julio Coraspe a contra luz junto a la actriz Jemima Saud, que representó un momento impactante para el público, por el contenido emocional que encierra la escena. Cabe destacar que el actor se lesionó un hombro durante los movimientos violentos que requirió la interpretación.

^{Rayuela's participation gave viewers another visual element on stage. The choreographies designed by Mildred Mambié were directed by Orlando Rodríguez and consisted of 10 actors who dramatized some important scenes from the film, such as the school scene (Another Brick On The Wall), where they performed a choreographic representation of the video clip. Among others, like Floyd sitting in front of the television (One of My Turn) performed by actor Julio Coraspe against the light with actress Jemima Saud, which represented a shocking moment for the public, due to the emotional content contained in the scene. It should be noted that the actor injured a shoulder during the violent movements that the interpretation required.}

Paublini (corista), Julio Lunar (bajo), Joan Márquez (teclados), Rafael Yabur (corista), Ricardo Silva (guitara), Hernán Paublini (voz principal, guitarra, piano) y Augusto Córdova (coros, congas, programación, bajo acústico).

La energía que se vivió en el escenario fue indescriptible, la receptividad del público fue una locura. El personal técnico y de protocolo del Teatro María Rodríguez, en aquel entonces era de un profesionalismo sin par y su directora Elizabeth Hernández nos brindo un apoyo gigantesco, abriéndonos las puertas del teatro para crear una obra única en nuestra ciudad, Cumaná. El teatro tiene un aforo de más de 300 personas y todas las butacas estaban llenas, entre los asistentes estuvieron importantes personalidades de la sociedad y los medios de comunicación. Fue realmente una experiencia extraordinaria y que me mostró de cerca el lado de los espectáculos que no se ve desde el público: el montaje de la iluminación, el sonido, la actividad tras bastidores y camerinos… un universo paralelo detrás y al rededor de los escenarios.

The technical and protocol staff of the María Rodríguez Theater, at that time, was of unparalleled professionalism and its director Elizabeth Hernández gave us enormous support, opening the doors of the theater for us to create a unique work in our city, Cumaná. The theater has a capacity of more than 300 people and all the seats were full, among the attendees were important personalities from society and the media. It was really an extraordinary experience and it showed me up close the side of the shows that is not seen from the public: the assembly of the lighting, the sound, the activity behind the scenes and dressing rooms... a parallel universe behind and around the stages. .}
