Sago Mango For Iftar
Hello everyone,
How are you today? I hope we are always given health and happiness in living the day. Still in the month of Ramadan, if I make a food recipe, it's definitely not far from food for iftar. As the only son-in-law, I always do my best when it comes to making food. Yes, it's because my mother-in-law can't cook. This makes me even more challenging in making food, because it has to be better and make everyone at home happy.
It's not something that is forced, it aims to complement each other, because everyone at home really likes to eat. They eat whatever I make and it's always gone. My mother-in-law loves me very much because of that, so she doesn't have to make food and help me to clean the house, we are partners who complement each other.
Well, it's been 20 days of fasting, which means we've gone ¾ of the way and it will go to our destination as Muslims. Getting closer to Eid al-Fitr makes us more enthusiastic about fasting, which means that our obligations as Muslims this year will be fulfilled. Therefore, in order to increase my enthusiasm for fasting, I always make special takjil that are sure to make all family members very happy and appreciated for the achievement of fasting all day long.
This time, I have a very brilliant plan to make all family members happy, this time's takjil is very special, it will quench thirst because of enduring thirst and hunger. Making delicious desserts originating from Hong Kong that are being talked about a lot by Indonesian people. Sago mango is a dessert that is sure to be very fresh and good for the health of the body, full of fiber and vitamins for the whole family. Moreover, this time I will make sago mango in a different way, usually using evaporated milk from cow's milk, so for the sago mango recipe this time I will make a vegan plant-based version. So, curious about the recipe? Let's try!
Ingredients;
- 1 mango (300 gr)
- 50 gr of pearl sago
- 1 pack jelly by nutrijell (vegan)
- 30 gr sugar
- Plantbased milk (can use soy milk or oat milk)
- Maple syrup or mango syrup (I used mango syrup)
- 700 ml and 500 ml of water
- Ice Cube
How to make sago mango;
- First, mix the sugar, 1 pack of jelly, mango syrup and 700 ml of water. Cook until boiling then strain so that the jelly has a soft texture and does not clot. Store until hardened and cold, can be put in the fridge first.
- After the jelly hardens and cools, cut the jelly according to taste.
- Heat 500 ml of water, then after boiling, put the sago pearls into the pan, cook for 10 minutes and turn off the stove. Then leave it for 30 minutes, then boil again for 10 minutes until the pearl sago is cooked and changes color to clear. Strain sago pearls and set aside.
- Wash and peel the mango skin, then slice the mango according to taste. Then mix the mango, nata de coco, jelly and sago pearls in a large bowl.
- Once mixed, put the plant based milk into a bowl and stir until all the ingredients are well blended. Give ice cubes if necessary.
- Sago mango is ready to be served!
See you the next time hive friends!

What a nice lifestyle! You have an interesting taste, in a good way. Mango is one of my favorite fruits so it looks delicious!
Manga is the best fruit to make a fresh taste in a bowl of dessert!
Definitely! My mama also likes to put it in meals during lunch like in Thai curry since it suits well with the sauce, rice and chicken. 😋
Oh, it looks so fresh and colorful! I could never tell a dessert like this had originated in Japan; it looks so typically Indonesian to me. Loved the recipe. Thank you so much for sharing it, @aswita 💚🌿
I heard it is original from Hong Kong, but most importantly it tastes really good!
