Coffee and Diabetes
Exactly a week ago, when I had to be rushed to the hospital because of bleeding that caused my pregnancy to be expelled and undergo a series of curettage operations, I also got to know that the doctor stated that I had diabetes for the last 6 months without me knowing it.
It was so painful, like being afflicted with a series of problems after problems, facing the harsh reality that might be the turning point of my life in the future. I realize that lately I've been forgetting to take care of myself, too carried away with mental problems with all the troubles of life. I forgot to understand myself, so that all the food that enters my body, an unhealthy lifestyle every day and don't care about the importance of exercising. Plus I forgot that my mother had diabetes mellitus which took her life 6 years ago.
I forgot all that because of my selfishness, prioritizing pleasure to eat whatever I like, drinking all kinds of sweet and high-calorie coffee, so that I forget many problems until I become happy because of carbohydrate intake, my oxytocin increases without knowing that my pancreas is not working to increase insulin in the blood so that glucose nimbly grabbed throughout the bloodstream until diabetes hit my body.
Right now, I'm afraid of anything sweet, even coffee. Usually I like a glass of palm coffee with full cream milk, almost every week I enjoy it while sitting in any coffee shop that is my mood. Likewise with a glass of hazelnut coffee or caramel macchiato which is so indulgent to the tongue, it really makes me lulled.
But now, I have to bury all these types of coffee menus, not because they interfere with stomach function, but because they interfere with my insulin hormone, I have to realize that I have to avoid all these menus and enjoy the original taste of coffee. Coffee is really coffee. Not a mixture of coffee, milk and other flavors.
Whether grateful or not, I can drink bitter coffee even if it's just a glass of americano which according to many people is the cheapest type of coffee in its class. Americano, espresso, v60 and other menu items are the only drinks I can drink at the moment. To avoid that I had to be rushed to the hospital when I was 28 years old with a history of diabetes mellitus.
The doctor was very surprised at me, saying there were many consequences. No more coffee with sugar, try it to make my life longer. What if I had to live on insulin injections when I was young. At least avoid any kind of sugar, not coffee. There is nothing wrong with coffee, only the sugar is wrong, I can drink as much as any kind of coffee without sugar, without milk and without flavor.
Coffee makes the tongue taste bitter, even so coffee will not hurt myself. I can't imagine life without coffee. No disease is caused by coffee. Likewise, the bitterness of coffee makes me have to be strong, that there are many bitter things that are more bitter than coffee, but after drinking a glass of bitter coffee, the after taste of coffee makes everything sweeter and calmer.
See you the next time hive friends!

That is so sad, coffee is my favorite but the good thing is that you already know it now and you will learn to adjust and help yourself with changes.
thank you for stopping by and and your great advice. I think, we must change the mindset and way of life for better health.
I am so sorry to hear your story, and completely relate to what you say. I have a health condition caused by hormonal disbalance, and looking at other people eating/drinking all they want is hard. Please try to comfort yourself, knowing there are many more like yourself. Together, we are stronger!
When you are ready, try Macha with plant-based milk. It gives the satisfying smoothness of a latte. A taste is something we learn and get comfortable with.
hello @rimicane thank you for stopping by
I feel better after hearing your story, I don't feel alone anymore in this situation now.
I've bought powdered matcha and was planning to try it with soy milk or oat milk, hopefully it tastes like normal milk.
🤍
