Con motivo de su reciente santificación, que consolida su ida su da su lugar en la jerarquía eclesiástica católica, la figura de José Gregorio Hernández, nuestro ya venerado santo popular, llega al Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas.

This Venezuelan historical figure, a renowned physician who lived in the capital in the early 20th century, was known in his lifetime as “the doctor of the poor” for his dedication and charity toward the most vulnerable.

Este personaje histórico venezolano, reconocido médico que vivió en la capital a principios del siglo XX, fue conocido en vida como el “médico de los pobres" por su dedicación y caridad hacia los más necesitados.

Lo interesante de esta exposición es que recorre la imaginería artística inspirada en José Gregorio Hernández a lo largo de varias décadas. One thing that immediately caught my attention was not exactly a work of art, but rather a signed copy of his celebrated treatise: “Elementos de bacteriología” (Elements of Bacteriology). Inside, one can read a handwritten dedication by the illustrious man himself.
