Historic center of La Guaira/ Casco histórico de La Guaira
As part of our family celebration for my youngest daughter's birthday, we decided to take a beach walk towards the central coast, since she loves the sea and the truth is that we adore it too, and after all, with good traffic , the beach is only 30 minutes from our house,so we usually go less than we would like.
The particular thing about this outing is that, taking advantage of the kind invitation of an aunt who works right in that area, we had planned to go after the beach to see part of the historic center of La Guaira, located in front of the main commercial port of the capital region, since colonial times.
The truth is that I only have a fleeting memory of having been on those streets quite some time ago when I was a child, so this was a complete novelty for me and also for most of my companions.
I was surprised to see those tall 19th century buildings in those narrow alleyways, but I understood that due to its proximity to the port, but above all, due to the imposing presence of the Casa Guipuzcoana, the main customs post from the colonial era administered by the Spanish crown, it is logical the high commercial and administrative frequency that this place had even until today.
Although I was there for just under two hours, I was able to appreciate a certain influx of people in some shops and restaurants, which denotes the active tourist nightlife that La Guaira is once again having.
Despite being a region characterized by its high temperatures, due to its proximity to the sea, there is quite a current of wind, which generates a pleasant temperature in late afternoon, which contrasts with the hot and humid day.
I was left wanting to make a more leisurely visit and with my complete photographic equipment, since I was able to quickly realize the historical and visual value of this area.
