Hola viajeros espero que estén muy bien en cualquier parte de este inmenso territorio en la que se encuentren, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el último viaje express que pude realizar a un pueblo que de primera vista nunca pensarías que está ubicado en Venezuela.
Hello travelers, I hope you are very well wherever you are in this immense territory, today I want to share with you the last express trip I could make to a town that at first sight you would never think it is located in Venezuela.
Camino a la Colonia Tovar / Road to Colonia Tovar
Me encontraba en La Victoria, una ciudad del estado Aragua en Venezuela dónde me hospedé por varios días mientras asistía a unas actividades artísticas en Caracas, pero bueno, eso se los comentaré en otra publicación. Lo cierto es que uno de esos días, decidimos ir a la Colonia Tovar, después de todo estando tan cerca de allí valía la pena hacer ese viajecito.
I was in La Victoria, a city in the state of Aragua in Venezuela where I stayed for several days while attending some artistic activities in Caracas, but well, I will tell you about that in another post. The truth is that one of those days, we decided to go to Colonia Tovar, after all being so close to there it was worth the trip.

Ahora si, con mapa en mano y todas las ganas por conocer lugares nuevos, comenzamos nuestra ruta La Victoria — Colonia Tovar.
Now, with map in hand and all the desire to see new places, we started our route La Victoria - Colonia Tovar.
El camino está rodeado de hermosas y gigantesca montañas perfectamente dibujadas por el sol. Una de las cosas que sin duda me encanta de viajar por caminos así, es perderme en los colores del paisaje, en las formas de las nubes, me pierdo en cada detalle de lo natural e inhalo profundamente ese aire frío y puro que siempre nos brindan estos lugares más alejados de la ciudad.
The road is surrounded by beautiful and gigantic mountains perfectly drawn by the sun. One of the things that I definitely love about traveling on roads like this, is getting lost in the colors of the landscape, in the shapes of the clouds, I get lost in every detail of nature and deeply inhale that cold and pure air that always give us these places farther away from the city.
Una hora después nos encontrábamos en el municipio Tovar a unos 2000 metros sobre el nivel del mar aproximadamente, habíamos llegado por fin a La Colonia Tovar. “Fundada el 8 de abril de 1843 por un grupo de inmigrantes alemanes provenientes del entonces Gran Ducado de Baden”, es justamente esa influencia cultural lo que lo hace un lugar tan único en todo el territorio venezolano.
An hour later we were in the municipality of Tovar at approximately 2000 meters above sea level, we had finally arrived at La Colonia Tovar. "Founded on April 8, 1843 by a group of German immigrants from the then Grand Duchy of Baden", it is precisely this cultural influence that makes it such a unique place in the whole Venezuelan territory.

Un pedacito de Alemania / A little piece of Germany
Algo que es peculiar de la Colonia y lo que lo hace tan único en todo el país es su estilo arquitectónico, “Sus casas fueron construidas al estilo de las aldeas de Schwarzuwald (sur de Alemania).” Incluso hasta el peaje que da entrada al municipio está elaborado bajo esas características.
Something that is peculiar to the Colony and what makes it so unique in the whole country is its architectural style, "Its houses were built in the style of the villages of Schwarzuwald (southern Germany)". Even the tollbooth at the entrance to the municipality is built in this style.

Nosotras estábamos por estos lados un lunes al final de la tarde, por lo que casi todo estaba cerrado, la mayoría de lugares turísticos en Venezuela funcionan al máximo los fines de semana. De todas formas, allí logramos entrar a un local a probar las cervezas artesanales.
We were in these parts on a Monday in the late afternoon, so almost everything was closed, most tourist places in Venezuela operate at full capacity on weekends. Anyway, we managed to get into a local place to try the craft beers.

Andábamos cinco personas así que decidimos pedir cinco cervezas distintas para que todos pudiéramos probarlas. La mayoría eran de la marca Bávaro y los sabores que recuerdo fueron los de la cerveza de naranja y manzana, estos sabores eran bastante buenos, en especial la naranja.
There were five of us so we decided to order five different beers so we could all try them. Most of them were Bávaro brand and the flavors I remember were the orange and apple beer, these flavors were quite good, especially the orange.
Cervezas artesanales
Dentro del local no podía dejar de ver cada detalle y anduve todo el rato tomando fotos por aquí y por allá. Es que no podía dejar pasar la belleza de esas lámparas, los amplios ventanales y hasta la misma puerta es otra cosa. También, esta edificación dejaba al descubierto su antigüedad, dejando ver en algunas zonas el material original de su construcción.
Inside the store I could not stop looking at every detail and I walked all the time taking pictures here and there. I could not miss the beauty of those lamps, the large windows and even the door itself is something else. Also, this building exposed its antiquity, revealing in some areas the original material of its construction.

Frutas y dulces tradicionales
No podíamos irnos de allí sin comprar nada más, así que aprovechamos a los últimos vendedores que ya recogían su mercancía. Es muy común encontrar en la Colonia venta de frutos como fresas, moras, melocotones entre otras que son cosechadas en ese clima frío. En mi caso, compré unas galletas de rosca que le encantan a mi madre y que hace mucho tiempo que no las encontrábamos en el mercado de mi ciudad.
We could not leave there without buying anything else, so we took advantage of the last vendors who were already picking up their merchandise. It is very common to find in the Colonia selling fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, peaches among others that are harvested in that cold climate. In my case, I bought some donut cookies that my mother loves and that we had not found in the market in my city for a long time.

Y bueno viajeros hasta aquí llego está aventura express por la Colonia Tovar, probando cerveza artesanal y comiendo dulces tradicionales. La verdad es que es un lugar muy pintoresco dónde te puedes tomar fotografías en cada esquina y van a salir encantadoras y aunque el tiempo aquí fue muy corto lo disfrute bastante, de todas formas me queda pendiente otra visita para seguir explorando los rincones de la pequeña Alemania venezolana.
And well travelers, so much for this express adventure through Colonia Tovar, tasting craft beer and eating traditional sweets. The truth is that it is a very picturesque place where you can take pictures in every corner and they will come out charming and although the time here was very short I enjoyed it a lot, anyway I have another visit pending to continue exploring the corners of the small Venezuelan Germany.
