In another universe.

In another universe…
I wandered through two different worlds,
each with its own light, its own weight,
its own quiet truth.

This piece is a dance of double exposure, two photographs, two moments, captured oceans apart but stitched together by instinct. A city rises from the roots of a forest, the sky burns with both sunrise and memory.

Trust in the unknown, letting my lens blend what my heart already knew, that we are never just in one place.

We carry all our past skies
all our distant silhouettes
and sometimes, if we are lucky
they find each other.

I absolutely love double exposures. I was always too afraid to do them on film. A lot are done "digitally" these days (so much so, after the fact) - and that's upsetting.

I have also experimented with long exposures and strobing the flash multiple times when doing portrait shots, particularly of dancers. While technically not multiple exposures, it achieves a similar effect, and ties two distinct moments together.

But, well; on the topics of moments, and photography, we're just capturing a sliver of light, which is a sliver of time, but to capture them in two places, and to let that light blend on the photographic medium is one of the most awesome things we can do to master that medium.

This post of yours got you a new follower :)

That means a lot, truly. I completely agree, there’s something sacred about letting light from two different moments breathe together on a single frame. Whether done in-camera or through a digital process, I still feel it’s about intention and emotion. Your flash technique sounds incredible too, like freezing echoes in motion. I love hearing how others explore bending time with light. Thanks again for the follow and for sharing your perspective, it’s what makes this visual journey so rich.
