▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Kiedy tylko zjawiłem się nad jeziorem, wiedziałem, że nie będę musiał się martwić o dobre światło, kolory i brak mgły. Wiedziałem też, że dalsze plany zdjęć będą ciekawe. Krajobraz jeziora jest bardzo urokliwy z wieloma pasmami Beskidów w tle. Z każdej strony inne. Na północy Beskid Mały, bardziej na wschodzie Śląski, natomiast od południa, ale znacznie dalej Beskid Żywiecki. Na pierwszym zdjęciu moment, w którym generalnie wschód słońca już nastąpił, ale Beskid Mały wciąż je przesłaniał.

Ustawiłem się tak, aby wykorzystać trawę rosnącą tuż przy brzegu jeziora, jako pierwszy plan. Nie używałem żadnych filtrów, a na wszelki wypadek do każdego zdjęcia wykonałem trzystopniowy bracketing, aby ustrzec się od sytuacji, w której straciłbym dobre zdjęcie przez prześwietlenie lub niedoświetlenie.

▸ ABOUT PHOTO · As soon as I arrived at the lake, I knew I wouldn't have to worry about good light, colors, or fog. I also knew the landscape beyond would be interesting. The lake's landscape is very charming, with the many Beskid Mountains in the background. Different on each side. To the north are the Little Beskids, further east the Silesian Mountains, and to the south, but much further away, the Żywiec Beskids. The first photo shows the moment when the sun had generally already risen, but the Little Beskids were still obscuring it.

I positioned myself to use the grass growing right by the lake's shore as the foreground. I didn't use any filters, and just to be on the safe side, I used a three-step bracket for each shot to avoid losing a good photo through overexposure or underexposure.

Łabędzie ustawiły mi się idealnie, kiedy słońce zaczęło wschodzić.

The swans positioned themselves perfectly for me as the sun began to rise.

02 ◇ niespodziewani goście ◇ unexpected guests

▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Od początku mojego pobytu w lokalizacji widziałem te łabędzie pływające po jeziorze. W pewnym momencie zaczęły się zbliżać do brzegu. Kiedy dopłynęły jasne było, że to czas ich śniadania i co chwila ich głowy wędrowały pod wodę w poszukiwaniu pożywienia. Zbliżyłem się do nich ostrożnie, aby ich nie spłoszyć a moment, w którym ustawiłem się idealnie, pokrywał się ze wschodem słońca nad górami. Idealne wyczucie chwili, ale nie moje, lecz łabędzi.

▸ ABOUT PHOTO · From the beginning of my stay at the location, I'd been seeing these swans swimming across the lake. At one point, they began approaching the shore. When they arrived, it was clear it was their breakfast time, and their heads kept dipping underwater in search of food. I approached them cautiously, so as not to spook them, and the moment I positioned myself perfectly coincided with the sunrise over the mountains. Perfect timing, not mine, but the swans'.

▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Moja obecność nie pozwalała im jednak na spokojne śniadanie. Za każdym razem, kiedy się zbliżałem, one zmieniały swoją pozycję przepływając kilkanaście metrów dalej. Starałem się robić im zdjęcia jak najbardziej dyskretnie, ale nie do końca to wychodziło. Ten moment, w którym płynęły rozdzielone bardzo mi się spodobał. Ustawiłem się tak, aby jeden z nich znajdował się w bardziej oświetlonej części, a drugi wpływał do bardziej zacienionej i celowo nieco przyciemniłem zdjęcie, aby podkreślić ich kształty.

▸ ABOUT PHOTO · My presence, however, prevented them from enjoying a peaceful breakfast. Each time I approached, they changed their position, swimming a dozen or so meters away. I tried to photograph them as discreetly as possible, but it didn't quite work. I really liked the moment when they swam apart. I positioned myself so that one of them was in the more lit area, while the other was entering the more shaded area, and I deliberately darkened the photo slightly to highlight their shapes.

Często musiałem czekać kilka chwil, aby wynurzyły głowy z wody.

▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Jedno z pierwszych zdjęć z łabędziami, ale celowo umieszczone w środku galerii. To moje ulubione z całej serii. W tle lekka mgła unosząca się swobodnie nad taflą jeziora i płonąca kolorami wschodu. Linia światła odbitego w wodzie przedzielająca kadr na dwie części i idealne ułożenie łabędzi. Jeden z nich właśnie szukał pożywienia, kiedy drugi spoglądał na mnie w bardzo dostojnej pozie.

▸ ABOUT PHOTO · One of the first photos with swans, but deliberately placed in the center of the gallery. This is my favorite of the entire series. In the background, a light mist hangs freely over the lake, ablaze with the colors of the sunrise. A line of light reflected in the water divides the frame in two, and the swans are perfectly positioned. One was searching for food, while the other gazed at me in a very dignified pose.

▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Jeszcze zanim wzeszło słońce wykonałem zbliżenie w stronę gór, chcąc uzyskać raczej minimalistyczny efekt i po prostu pokazać je w towarzystwie pięknych, porannych, ciepłych kolorów.

Ten perfekcyjny moment, kiedy wszystko układa się idealnie.

▸ O FOTOGRAFII · Na koniec serii kolejne zbliżenie. Tym razem już bardziej na samo słońce i na to, co w jego świetle nabrało wizualnej perfekcji. Nie pamiętam, kiedy ostatni raz miałem możliwość fotografowania w tak cudownych warunkach. Był to mój pierwszy plener w terenie o wschodzie słońca od bardzo dawna.

Już kiedy jechałem nad jezioro, wiedziałem, że pojawi się mgła. Noc była wilgotna, a jadąc drogą przez okoliczne miejscowości widziałem, jak mgła napiera właśnie od strony jeziora. Liczyłem, że będzie trochę gęstsza nad samym zbiornikiem, ale i tak była co najmniej zadowalająca.

▸ ABOUT PHOTO ·To conclude the series, another close-up. This time, focusing more on the sun itself and what its light has transformed into visual perfection. I can't remember the last time I had the opportunity to photograph in such wonderful conditions. This was my first outdoor sunrise shoot in a very long time.

As I drove to the lake, I knew fog would form. It was a damp night, and as I drove along the road through the surrounding towns, I could see the fog rolling in from the lake. I'd expected it to be a bit thicker over the reservoir itself, but it was still at least satisfactory.
