Random photos of my visit to Tusmare Medio

This is not a publication specialized in photography of places, it is just a day full of energy, nature and local stories.

For years I have been working for the conservation of different ecosystems, now I live in a wooded area of El Hatillo Venezuela and I am designing an Eco tourist route designed for lovers of hiking, gastronomy, bird watching, nature photography.

All this work I do together with Vida Verde @vida.verde a project where @cvnuitter (Creator) and myself (Co-creator) bet on a greener lifestyle, always aiming towards Eco and Agro Tourism as Venezuela being one of the mega diverse countries is the best option when designing a tourism strategy.

Tusmare Medio a chequered history

Our tour through the community of Tusmare Medio aims to connect from Vida Verde a hiking route that runs through mountains of fabulous valleys and part of a ravine full of ancestral treasures. Here you can see along the ravine several petroglyphs of thousands of years old made by aboriginal groups.

Today, this community of about 20 families faces several challenges. We are currently guiding them to generate planting projects and join the development of the eco-tourist route, which will undoubtedly give them greater stability and financial security in the not too distant future.

The creek is moderately polluted and part of the work is to clean it up in stages until it recovers.

Permaculture and local architecture

One of the main housing solutions in the area has been to work with biomaterials, mainly earth and stones. Bahareque is our ancestral technique in Venezuela to build houses. Mud, straw and wood are the local materials that by natural choice of the locals use in the task of making their homes.

I visited one of these houses and was impressed by the quality and coziness of a house made with these materials. In addition this house has a lot of modifications especially by using stones in much of it's construction which makes the house quite sturdy and durable.

This will be a great visual appeal, an aesthetic that will be in keeping with the nearby forest and river space.

Quebrada clean water and full of fruit trees.

Not everything is pollution there are a lot of locals who clean their spaces very well and take advantage of the goodness of the water to plant fruit trees. On the way to the house of two members of the community we were able to see some animals. We went to the house of Nicolas who has the largest cocoa tree that my eyes have ever seen. Usually cocoa trees have some pruning applied to them in order to better manage the harvest, lower trees make it easier to pick their fruits.

While at Nicolás' house I was able to pick quite a few cocoa fruits with which I will start tests to make chocolate, but this will be another publication.

Local flora and mushrooms

On the last trip we made to investigate this tourist route that is making more and more sense, we found some flowers and mushrooms that mark the beginning of the rainy season in Venezuela. Nature is becoming active and showing new life after several days of heavy rains. We are very happy to find a great variety of flora and mushrooms because it is perfect for hiking with experts who can detail to the hikers the type of vegetation and mushrooms that can be found in this area.

I wanted to make this work of random photographs to show the different nuances and all the possibilities to make this a lasting project and with a lot of sense for the locals.

With a lot of work we will be able to make Tusmare medio a favorite place for eco tourism, archaeological tourism and gastronomic tourism.

If you visit Venezuela don't forget to visit us and live an experience full of energy, the cloud forests of Venezuela will enchant you.

Nature has played a role in many things in our lives. The place is incredibly beautiful. In Bangladesh, 10 to 15 or 20 years ago, many people used to build houses with straw and wood. They also used clay. Seeing such work actually brings back those emotional memories of childhood. Have a nice day.
