The beautiful city of Krakow

Hello everyone dear Hivers friends and welcome back to my blog. It's been a few days since my trip to Poland and now I decided to share my experience and show you photos of this wonderful city.
Kraków is an ancient city in the south of Poland and its name in Polish “Stołeczne Królewskie Miasto Kraków,” means Royal Capital City of Kraków and has been the capital of Poland for centuries.

The most beautiful and important part of the city is its ancient Old Town listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

I really liked the city mostly because of the neatness of the buildings, streets and cleanliness of the premises, despite the fact that millions of people visit it every year.

But what I found spectacular was the city's multitude of architectural styles, from medieval to Gothic, Renaissance to Baroque.

It is a superior Renaissance fortress that housed none other than Leonardo Da Vinci's famous Lady with an Ermine, now in the National Museum in Krakow.

I also want to mention that Kraków was the archiepiscopal seat of Pope John Paul II Karol Wojtyla. But back to the city center, which surprises us with the grandeur of a beautiful square, the largest medieval square in Europe, Market Square.

Here you can take a ride in typical and historic 18th-century carriages with beautiful and well-groomed horses.

It is worth mentioning that a few dozen kilometers from Krakow is the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp complex where millions of people were exterminated by the Nazis.

It is very atmospheric and full of special objects as well as jewelry, the Nowy Kazimierz market that offers tourists the possibility of being able to find very rare things.

The 'most important religious building in the city is the famous basilica of St. Mary located right in the center of the majestic main square, with two gigantic bell towers over 80 meters high.

Inside the church of St. Francis we find beautiful stained glass windows made by the famous artist, painter, architect and poet Stanisław Wyspiański.

I leave you with the advice to go and eat the typical Polish cuisine of meat, potatoes, cabbage, mushrooms, berries and herbs, in quaint places like this one, where the wood and bricks make the atmosphere very atmospheric.

La bellissima città di Cracovia

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e bentornati sul mio blog. E' trascorso qualche giorno dal mio viaggio in Polonia e adesso ho deciso di condividere la mia esperienza e di mostrarvi le foto di questa città meravigliosa.
Cracovia è una antica città a sud della Polonia e il suo nome in polacco "Stołeczne Królewskie Miasto Kraków", significa Città Reale capitale di Cracovia ed è stata per secoli la capitale della Polonia.
La parte più bella ed importante della città è il suo antico centro storico inserito nella lista dell'UNESCO come patrimonio dell'umanità. La città mi è piaciuta moltissimo soprattutto per la cura dei palazzi, delle strade e la pulizia dei locali, nonostante milioni di persone la visitino ogni anno.
Ma ciò che hi trovato spettacolare è la moltitudine di stili architettonici della città, dal medievale al gotico, dal rinascimentale al barocco.
Il castello di Wawel, sempre nel centro della città, è una fortezza rinascimentale di qualità superiore che ha custodito nientemeno che la famosa Dama con l'ermellino di Leonardo Da Vinci, ora nel Museo Nazionale di Cracovia. Voglio anche ricordare che Cracovia è stata la sede arcivescovile di Papa Giovanni Paolo II Karol Wojtyla.
Ma torniamo al centro della città che ci sorprende per la grandiosità di una piazza bellissima, la più grande piazza medievale d'Europa, Piazza del Mercato.
Qui è possibile fare un giro con le tipiche e storiche settecentesche carrozze con cavalli bellissimi e ben curati.

E' utile ricordare che a poche decine di chilometri da Cracovia si trova il complesso di campi di concentramento di Auschwitz-Birkenau dove vennero sterminate milioni di persone da parte dal Nazismo.
E' molto suggestivo e ricco di oggetti particolari oltre che alla gioielleria, il mercatino di Nowy Kazimierz che offre ai turisti la possibilità di poter trovare cose molte rare.
L' edificio religioso più importante della città è la famosa basilica di Santa Maria sita proprio al centro della maestosa piazza principale, con due gigantesche torri campanarie di oltre 80 metri di altezza.
All'nterno della chiesa di San Francesco troviamo delle splendide vetrate colorate realizzate dal celebre artista, pittore, archietto e poeta Stanisław Wyspiański.
Vi lascio con il consiglio di andare a mangiare la tipica cucina polacca a base di carne, patate, cavolo, funghi, frutti del bosco ed erbe, in locali carattersitici come questo, dove il legno e i mattoni rendono l'atmosfera molto suggestiva.
