I always like the pictures of squirrels that @sketch.and.jam shows.
I've always wondered how close he can photograph them there. I know of only one such place where a squirrel comes to a person's hands. It is very far from me - 1200 km. Right! My son lives there. Does anyone remember that I was visiting my son last week? But I couldn't visit the park with squirrels, because he and I walked along the taiga rivers, and in the taiga, a squirrel does not approach a person. By the way, I didn't meet a single duck on the rivers and lakes there. It seemed strange to us.
But let's get back to the squirrels, friends. On September 1, my former classmate sent a photo of a squirrel. I asked her - where did you do it? She replied that she was in the hospital and walking in the park next to the hospital. Of course, I went straight to her. We didn't have much time to talk, she had to go to the procedures. We took a little walk in the park in search of a squirrel. She wasn't near the feeder. But my almost sharp-sighted gaze caught the movement of a small red fluffy girl. That's right, it was a squirrel with a dark fluffy tail.



Of course, our squirrels will be smaller than the squirrels in the photos @sketch.and.jam
I'll say more. Our squirrels lose in size to Siberian and Karelian squirrels, because the forage base of our forests is poorer. We don't have any big pine cones.
Sometime in the '90s of the last century, I came to work at a fur factory called "Squirrel" and was surprised by the number of names of this animal's fur in the catalog. Experts explained to me that the skins differ in color, size, and density of the pile.



When I was 11 years old, my cousin Yura took me hunting for the first time. It was winter and we went with him to look for squirrels. He took the guns, we went outside, called the village dogs, and went with them into the forest. Now practically no one lives on that street and I didn't meet a single dog there this summer with whom I could go hunting. Times have changed.
I often went hunting with my cousin that winter. He was 6 years older than me. We had a task - we needed to get 28 squirrels so that Yura could sew a hat for himself. We did it. I learned how to shoot a gun, and skin dead squirrels. This came in handy when I started breeding rabbits.






During this walk in the park, one squirrel ran around us, but did not let us get close to him. Nadia, that's the name of my classmate, told me that the squirrel literally followed her like a dog and looked into her hands.
Oh, yes, the feeders have a whole list of what you can't feed squirrels. I was surprised. There's even a cake on the list! Are people really so stupid that they feed squirrels sweets? Then I thought - yes, people don't understand that you can't feed squirrels with bread, it's poison for them. And you can't feed the birds with bread either!

Yes, of course, I didn't have a camera with me again. I had to settle for the iPhone XR, so I tried to get closer to the squirrel. It is possible that I will try to appear in that place with a camera in my hands.
