We continued to progress with the Planting of the Garden Forest - Day One

avatar

Hello dear Hivers, I hope you had a good weekend ! On our side, it's been busy and, I must say, extremely cheerful, although tiring at the same time.

The main thing is that all the trees have been planted, and this wouldn't have been possible without that fabulous tool I've already told you about, the grelinette in French, or five-pronged fork !

I'm careful not to cause more trouble than digging already does, but it's always nice to be visited early in the morning by a friendly butterfly !

Here's the neighbor's orchard and a few views of our tools resting while we do the same.

I've skipped a step here, as the hole is already made and we're already covering it with leaves and other organic matter. This has a double effect: it retains moisture better and saves on watering, and as the leaves and straw decompose, they nourish the soil and therefore the tree roots.

Here's a glimpse of the orchard under construction...

And then the first tree is proudly planted! It's a pear tree, of the "Bon Chrétien" variety if I remember correctly :)

I finish by putting up stakes with a bit of string to hold the trees upright while their roots sink into the soil and stabilize it.

But we went so fast that the session ended late with a late-night watering session. In fact, we made so much progress that we went to a nearby nursery for more trees, and ended up planting them in the middle of the night !

So much for the first day's planting, there'll be a second one for this stay in the country, but I'm aiming to have twenty trees planted this winter !

I hope you've enjoyed this little update on our adventures in the countryside. This week I'm out of town and may not be able to respond to your comments, but I'll be happy to read them !

Thank you for taking the time to visit and read, and happy new week to you all, take care,

<3

<3

You were so industrious with your planting that you went in the wee hours. I am sure this gives a wonderful feeling of achievement. It will be wonderful when those trees begin to grow.
The area is so beautiful - that is a source of encouragement and the wonderful organic fruits to come.

Hey @momogrow ! We're planning to for a garden forest giving its fruits in 4-5 years, so yeah, there's a lot to plant hehe :)

Sorry for the late reply 😱 !

Yes, after that, I think we'll start a vegetable garden in the spring, so we can get on with things without losing our patience... 😂 !

Have a lovely day ahead 😘

You have a field with an extraordinary view, the blue sky means there is enough sunlight for plant growth @anttn

There is something far more satisfying about planting trees than simply keeping a veggie garden. I'm excited for you about your orchard. Well done. What a beautiful countryside

I’m sure that planting the tree will be stressful
Anyway, you did a great job so kudos to you and I wish you more successful jobs

20 trees is great, man. I hope you can plant that many trees. If you plant this many trees every year, you will have a forest in 10 years haha. The view is beautiful but of course you work there instead of watching it so good luck 😅

You're right, it's a bit the idea, for the moment, 12 are already well planted 😊

Take care and sorry for answering that late ^^

Nice to see those little sprouts finally got settled in! :D I'm pretty sure they'll be taken well care of and therefore will reward you big way.
But it seems you're quite a bit more to the south than me... we had the first snow tonight. Wouldn't be pleasant for trees to be planted in that condition... :D

Yes, I think I'm a lot further south now, where are you based already ?

But yesterday we had our first frosty morning, so it's definitely getting closer to winter 😅
