Some Highlights from our Christmas Weekend
Hi everyone, I hope you had a great time with your family! Here, after a rather long train journey, it was a very pleasant time all together for the occasion.
Yesterday, when I arrived at the end of the afternoon, everyone (or almost everyone) was in the kitchen and I joined the crew, just after I took the time to wash my hands ^^
There were a lot of different duos, those who went into the forest to fetch conifer branches to decorate the table, those who prepared the meal for the next day, a team for a coral lentil soup with coconut milk and tomato, an oyster opening team and finally, those who did a bit of everything and stewardship. It is in this team that I naturally found myself as I was taking the train on the move ...!
One of the recipes for the next day was a seven-hour leg of lamb, meaning we threw it in when we went to bed and it cooked all night !
In the recipe, there are many vegetables, carrots, fennel, parsnips, onions, potatoes, cognac and white wine and of course, the meat.
The interesting thing about this meat is that the lamb grew up in the area and grazed all summer in one of the property's meadows ! Apparently, together with its mother, it even escaped for a month in the mountain pastures and thus had a surplus of freedom. But not for too long...
After helping with this dish, I went to open a few dozen oysters. It wasn't a dish I loved when I was younger, but now I love it and it's also a pleasure to open them if you have the knack and the right technique :)
As for the atmosphere, it was very pleasant, not too elaborate, sober and finally quite " countryside " in the good sense of the word. A good fire was glowing in the fireplace and it was mainly my mother who took care of setting the table, as well as everything else ! She loves to do this and we each had a little present on our plate... Always attention to detail !
The next day (today), more meals and good times together, but if I'm not going to hide it, we always end up eating too much. I find this sometimes indecent, especially since this excess comes from a time when things were lacking in everyday life and this surplus was therefore a real feast. Today, on average, the West is overflowing with things, whether they are eaten or not, and it is always a bit strange to want to add more to the more !
Yet in many ways we were quite simple. The good example is this fir tree which is actually a pine tree that was cut down on the property :)
Let's finish this brief overview with this window decoration made by my mother the week before. A very nice stylized snowflake that works well day or night, no matter how much light there is !
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the festivities and I renew my wish that they were enjoyable on your side too ! The connection is not very reliable where I am, so it has slowed me down a bit in my desire to share, but you got the gist :D
Take care and see you soon,
<3
What a lovely dinner, love your mother's attention to details. Is it a French tradition to have oysters at Christmas, if so, I'm definitely going to get myself an invite to a French christmas dinner next year, I absolutely love oysters!
Happy Christmas!
She's to strong and accurate on this ! Yeah, there's often some one the table, but if you come in Paris, I would be very pleased to got and eat a full plate you :)
I hope you enjoyed this Christmas as well !
Oh, wow!! This is a beautiful Christmas you are having! Simply love the table, the decorations, the meals, oh and that decoration on the window is amazing 😍
The lamb, 7 hours, that must be delicious when done!
Merry Christmas once again 🎄
This was super refreshing to find back everyone in this nice place :)
And that lamb... Delicious indeed, thanks you !
Was just perfect, now we're in Lyon, I'm thinking about doing a little reportage about the Gallo-Roman theaters ^^
ENjoy the time in Lyon, and yes, that would be cool to see the Gallo-Roman theatres from your perspective!! Looking forward to it :)
And maybe you would not believe it, but I am just checking the deadlines for the challenge.. I am thinking about writing my contribution already for days... :D
Let's hope I can't get myself up early and make something on that front :)
Have a good night @anttn 👋 😴
Thanks you ! The theaters were beautiful... a bit like 100, 300 or 2000 years ago ^^
Don't worry, we're all a bit late, or rather out of time, but that's a good sign ! Maybe me more than anyone else haha !
I wish you a great new year, and if you're about to finish the writing, don't hesitate, the deadline is more informative than anything else, but... shhh, don't tell anyone :D
I will not :D
I was thinking about writing it today but I just couldn't get there... and tomorrow we are going on a road trip. 😉
Happy New Year to you too 🥂🎶😀
Haha ! I feel like you will be onboard the next time :)
But that's fine... Where are you heading ?
Best wishes and happiness to you and you're family 🌟 😘

It was a nice Christmas 🎄 with the in-laws. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately I fell ill 🤒 too… but am recovering now 🤓 so hope to be up and running after the weekend. I had to go out this morning. Posted a small update too. So catching up now bit by bit 😊
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy New Year 🍾🥂🎉🎉 all the best wishes for you and yours my friend! 🥳
Ah, that's cool... less for the part where you get sick, that's part of the reunion game, but it's still tiring... I hope you get well soon !
Thanks for your wishes :D I wish you a great year in advance !
Take care 😘 🍀 !
Thank you so much @anttn 😊
I know where I got it from… during shopping for Christmas pressies, a woman behind me in the line at the check out started coughing badly… sigh 😔 by that time it must have been to late already to walk away. I think I will be fine after the weekend. Will rest a bit more now 🤞🏻🍀
You are welcome, thanks a lot my friend 🙏🏻🤗😘
Take care too and enjoy your weekend!
Of course, that must be that... Always avoid the line haha !
Try some Ravinsara essential oil in massage with Zinc, Vit C&D :)
I hope you'll be well soon to attack this New Year ! Best wishes ✌️😘
Yep, I always try to avoid… but new places, limited time doesn’t give me a routine hehehe 🤭
Sounds good. Will try. Thanks @anttn 🙏🏻
