A New Screwdriver and some Fresh Spices

(Edited)

Hello dear Hivers ! I hope you are well and that your week went well :) Today when I left home, I didn't really think I would come back with so many purchases...! Of course, I had a few ideas in mind, but nothing specific, except maybe for the spices...

For the screwdriver, I knew I needed a new one, it's my basic tool and my old one broke down last week, so I didn't really have a choice.

I took the model I've been thinking about for a long time, a powerful 18V Makita with 4ah batteries. I also have something wired at home, but at work I can't walk around with an extension cord behind me ^^ !

These other tools are for a future work suspension mission, something with crimping nuts which I will tell you about later :)

But let's move on to the spices ! Here I made a good supply for my mother and grandmother as I see them in a short time. Here, it's Sichuan pepper and pink berries.

It's a bit difficult to see anything with the plastic, but it's citron and candied cherries, again for my mother. It's very good in cakes for example.

Finally, I did some shopping for myself, here some sesame seeds to make a Chinese chilli sauce and then some quinoa as it's my staple food.

I've spared you a few other less interesting purchases, but otherwise it's all there ! That's it for this short #MarketFriday post, a community started and run by @dswigle, who I thank for her attention to detail and all that she does :)

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, thanks for visiting ! Take care, I wish you a very good weekend,

Bonjour chers Hivers !

Yeah, the good things is that I had the occasion to try those several times before in different friends workshops, seems indeed super resistant ! Thank you :)

Hope you're doing well dear, I wish you a good evening and weekend !

Yeah good choice on the Makita. I built a shed with a corded screwdriver and extension cord. Didnt know about the importance of good cordless back then. Glad you aren't making the same mistake I did 🙂

I also really enjoy corded tools too, they are way more durables, but have to be used more in the environnement of a workshop. But for sure, the ones with batteries offer to be more mobile !

Have a good weekend 😇

Are the corded ones more powerful? I have always been led to believe that cordless are not as good, however, I think they certainly have their place! Good luck with it.

On reading about it, it seems like it will be pretty powerful!

Is that a riveter? Oh, yes it is! What will we be riveting? :)

The cherries and citron are wonderful for cakes. Can you believe I could not find citron this winter? Everywhere I looked was out and even online, it was extinct. I make fruit cake and it absolutely needed the citron. Next year, I hope. I am sure your mother and grandmother will be happy with it! Sesame seeds for Chinese chili sauce. which never lasts more than two weeks in my house, no matter how much I make of it. They love it on, well, almost everything. :) Yes, quinoa is perfect, and I have actually never bought it loose. I am not sure why. As always, a wonderful #MarketFriday! I hope all is going well with you and your family.

What kind of cake did your mother make???

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Are the corded ones more powerful?

This one and others in the same range must be, but the battery will disappear in no time at full power ! For working in a workshop or in the same room for exemple, I’ll always prefer those with a cable, no lithium, cheaper and finally more durable :)

But if you need to travel or work on a rooftop, the cordless will be perfect !

Can you believe I could not find citron this winter?

I can, even if that seems very strange !! But I trust you about searching in all the good places ;-) Don’t hesitate to let me know, I would be happy to send you some anytime... By the way, is it complicated to send food to the US ?

About the cake, I think it’s a one with spices, but I can get you the exact name 😉 I’m going to see both my mother and grandmother in few days.

Quinoa is definitely my favorite grain, in fact it’s supposed to be a vegetable, but it’s rather expensive and I think it will be a good thing to grow in the countryside. Sesame, gosh I appreciate every little seed haha !

Thank you for visiting dear Denise, I wish you a very pleasant day 🌺😘
