Follow Us in this Enchanted Nature along the Canal du Loing [EN - FR]

avatar

We were very lucky when we went to the countryside south of Fontainebleau for a single day. First of all, the weather forecast predicted terrible thunderstorms and in the end, it only rained when we returned after several outings in the area.

The second nice surprise was all the unforeseen encounters along the canal which, at the cost of multiple connections with other water routes, allows us to go to Spain in one direction, or to the North Sea and Scandinavia in the other direction. But as I have not tested all this myself, this information needs to be verified.

DSC_1588.JPG

Here we are on the bridge over the canal. Basically, without knowing anything about it, I thought that Scandinavia must be in this direction, don't you think ?

DSC_1594.JPG

DSC_1862.JPG

In any case, in comparison, this sunnier side with this beautiful barge reminded me more of Spain and the Mediterranean area and it is thus in this direction that we decided to go !

DSC_1858.JPG

Without talking about far away places, you can already reach the small towns in the vicinity by bike and without too much effort because of the water level.

DSC_1610.JPG

DSC_1613.JPG

I might as well tell you straight away, I fell under the spell of these perpetually changing reflections and at the same time, I told myself that it was a bit like life. Basically, life is the same thing all the time and at the same time, never quite the same. That is, if you pay attention.

DSC_1630.JPG

With every meter forward, the landscape invariably changes...

DSC_1620.JPG

And with each step forward, the temptation to look back was also there ! Not to see how far we have come, but more to admire the retrospective evolution of the landscape.

DSC_1633.JPG

My partner in search of the most beautiful flowers for the bouquet that will adorn the dining room... Avoiding hemlocks of course !

DSC_1638.JPG

Arrived near the sluice. I think that of all the mechanical systems, these are among my favorites... Especially when you find them in such bucolic settings !

DSC_1637.JPG

An almost conceptual image with this lost child's dummy placed prominently on this bush of a plant with sharp leaves and whose botanical name I always forget.

DSC_1794.JPG

At about the level of the sluice, I see a house that looks abandoned, but we'll go there a little later...

DSC_1660.JPG

DSC_1667.JPG

In the retention basin, the water is even calmer and the reflections even more striking, but in the end, I don't make as many images and details as I initially thought...

DSC_1647.JPG

DSC_1647 2.png

Actually, on the other side of the canal, there is a couple of Canada geese and their four chicks that seem to have been hatched only a few days ago. What magnificent creatures... and we must admit, particularly cute !

DSC_1673.JPG

DSC_1685.JPG

After a while and as we are about to start walking back to our shore - to Spain so ^^ - the group of geese goes back into the tall grass and finally reaches the water. I don't know if it's them or us following them, but the fact is that we are going in the same direction.

DSC_1697.JPG

DSC_1688.JPG

After the lock, the road becomes even wilder and the sides less maintained. Just what I like !

DSC_1714.JPG

DSC_1717.JPG

Without anyone forcing the pace, the geese are always at our level. Here the parents are a little less vigilant, they know and feel that we are not a particular risk.

DSC_1736.JPG

DSC_1733.JPG

A look forward, a look back, the unchanging ritual accompanies us, and finally we are entitled to ask ourselves the question, does going forward really mean anything ?

DSC_1743.JPG

DSC_1617.JPG

It's hard to tell what the flowers are saying if you don't take the time to listen and admire them for a while...

DSC_1760.JPG

DSC_1779.JPG

We had lost sight of the geese, but on our way back we found them on the road, this time on our side of the river. They seem to be constantly looking for food.

DSC_1746.JPG

And I'm glad that they didn't eat this nice gastropod, a living example of Fibonacci curves and fractals. In the end, the more I observe Nature, the more I am convinced that everything is a universe in miniature, you just have to take the time to look at things carefully.

DSC_1784.JPG

Last picture with the geese that have momentarily hidden in the tall grass.

DSC_1809.JPG

DSC_1813.JPG

DSC_1812.JPG

Here we are again at the foot of the house we saw on the way. Indeed this one is quite abandoned and seems to have already received some more or less friendly visits... I go to look for a possible access by walking around the house.

DSC_1815.JPG

In the end, I don't know if something wanted to "get in" or "get out" here, but I can't help thinking of some kind of strange and ferocious creature. Finally, like Indiana Jones, I take the risk and slide my arm inside the opening of this shutter...

DSC_1817.JPG

DSC_1820.JPG

In the end, it doesn't look that worrying, but I won't explore further. @slobberchops, I'll leave this one to you and if you have any tips on how to get in without breaking and entering, I'll be interested :)

DSC_1829.JPG

On another note, we are almost at the end of our walk and here is the result of this country and spring bouquet !

DSC_1848.JPG

DSC_1853.JPG

The sun has gone the other way... well, that depends on whether you are looking towards Scandinavia or Spain !

I hope you've enjoyed this ride, which might seem to have come out of a mix of tales with the lock, the bouquet, the abandoned house and the group of geese. It remains to be seen what roles we play in this whole scheme ^^ !

Thank you for your visit, I wish you all a great day, see you soon 👋

@anttn

No pointless AI around here.
Please take into account that all these images are mine and were taken by me with a Nikon D5500 and a Sigma 17-70mm lens.

Enfin, si on y prête attention.

DSC_1630.JPG

Don't ever break in! I walk away from lots of places, it's frustrating but I don't want tangles with the law. You need to look hard, and use 'out of the box techniques' at times.

There's graffiti on the window, was it outside or in?
Someone's likely been inside before, or scaled the outside to spray it.

Don't ever break in!

You mean by effraction? I’ll not do that anymore, did few time when I was a child in abandoned countryside houses, didn’t broke or damage anything - except a window ^^ - but I was taken in action and this was the last time for sure, hopefully I was very young!

You need to look hard, and use 'out of the box techniques' at times.

I see what you’re talking, can understand how this may be frustrating and still, I’m really impressed by the number of places you visited!

I think there was some graffiti inside as outside, for sure it has been visited already but the windows were now reinforced with wooden pieces and good old screws :)

Thank you for sharing your advices and recommendations, have a good day!

There are times when we have bad days (like last Sunday). 15 visits and only 4 successes. Places get boarded up very quickly, and the re-opened by vandals. As long as you are not one of those 'vandals' I see anywhere as fair game. The trespass laws may be different where you are, so please check them.

Yes, I imagine there must be more or less successful days and expeditions!

I rarely get the opportunity to make such visits, although I would love to make more... I'd have to get closer to urbex communities in the Paris area. And yes, you're right about the local laws, I'm going to find out more seriously...!

Thanks again and have a great day 👋

My goodness... where to start! I actually found this wonderful post, quite by accident; as I was going through some search queries for #seekpeece by @dreemsteem I saw your main image, and simply had to keep reading! If this was posted on a Wednesday, I would say it would have made a wonderful #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. But the first person I thought of when I saw the word canal was @millycf1976; if you know her, then it will make sense... if not... for goodness sake, go check out her energy! This really is, to me, the whole ambiance of our blockchain... like Bob Ross would have said... "A happy accident". I could go on and on, about the wonderful photos, the story with each of them, or the energy that you are broadcasting (in a good way!)... but this last bit, spoke to my heart:

I hope you've enjoyed this ride, which might seem to have come out of a mix of tales with the lock, the bouquet, the abandoned house and the group of geese. It remains to be seen what roles we play in this whole scheme ^^ !

Thank you... for taking us along with you, and for helping us to remember to "step outside"... there's a whole world out there, just waiting to meet us!

Thank you very much dear @wesphilbin !

I'm glad this happy accident happened and I really like the way you describe it, I'm always interested to know a bit about the circumstances in which things happen :) Yeah, I indeed know her, but I will go and have a closer look on her last articles 🌺

I thank you for this positive energy and I'm happy we get to know each other 😇

Hello, dear soul! I wanted to stop by and see if a GINA BOT notification was an error. Most people are not bothered by this. But I take all friendships very seriously. Anyway... I got a notification that you had unfollowed me... so I wanted to see if it was an error, or if you had a reason.

Hey @wesphilbin, sorry for the late answer. To be honest, and even if that fonction exist here, I don't like when people reblog too much things. It make the process of going through the feed fastidious and that was probably about that. But nothing personal, I also review my following list quite often. It's also maybe a question of esthetics, but for example, I prefer when people illustrate their content with their own pictures, generic pictures found on internet don't interest me as a person.

So that was possibly for that this last morning :)

I hope you're fine, take care !

It looks like Holland 🙂 completely flat, lots of water and everything is green - exactly like over there.

Your spring bouquet is beautiful but those yellow flowers (buttercup) are my worst enemy in the garden 😂 It's one of the most persistent weeds that we have there...

Have a lovely day!

You're right, this is really close in the style, maybe as it's designed for big barges as in Holland, your comment made me think about those good moments I had there, I'm kind of missing this... Maybe it's the time to organize a new trip there :)

I'll transmit the compliment to my companion, but it's true those are really a terrible weed..!
After, is it so problematic for your design if some buttercup remain ?

Have a really good day too, hopping you're doing good 😇 !

It's not so far and you can easily take a train from Paris to Amsterdam anytime 🙂 I was supposed to go there with my husband at the end of May to help with reconstruction of his parents houses but I won't be able to make it this time as he goes for a week and we cannot leave the garden unattended for so long as slugs would eat it all up..

Since we have it in garden I hate it 😂 the former owners of the garden didn't clean it for years, so those weeds are gigantic and it takes me ages to remove. I don't want to keep any of it as slugs seem to love it and make it their home. I try to make it as slugs free as possible 😂

Have a lovely day ahead!

Yeah, I use to go there by bus haha, I had a formidable internship there more than four months :) Really enjoyed that city !

For slugs, I've an other tip for you, you can put a recipient full of beer (a really bad one) a little bit in the earth, you'll see, all the slugs will drown into it !!

Courage for the rest of the weeds removing and other gardening tasks ✌️

Have good day too 😇

No, no, no, we can't do that 😂 we don't kill them. We only bring them every day to a forest nearby.. I know there are plenty of tips online on how to get rid of them, but they mainly include killing them in one way or another, so it's a no go for us.

Thank you so much! 🙂 I might post about all of it one day 😉

Haha, you don't want to kill the slugs, but for the buttercups, no mercy 😂 !

I would love to see your garden, will stay updated... but currently, I'm experiencing a no network area in the south of France... Well it's rather difficult to stay tuned 😅

Have a good evening and weekend ✌️
