Dandelions like the Guardians of this 12th century old Graveyard

Do you like graveyards ? I know it's not the place most people like to wander or the place they'd think of for a weekend stroll.

As far as I'm concerned, whether it's a photographic exploration or a simple moment of meditation or reading, graveyards have always been the places where I feel the most calm, the greatest inner serenity and, ultimately, a very strong energy of life !

In fact, I've never found death or related subjects morbid. It's true that the death of a loved one is hard and difficult, but it's perhaps all the more so if you tell yourself that death is the opposite of life. In that case, things are certainly more complicated. And don't think I'm saying that because I haven't lost anyone close to me, either family or friends - it's quite the opposite...

So here we are, facing this little church perched on a small, gently sloping hill, surrounded by huge fields where cereals are the main crop.

That weekend, I was equipped with my Nikon D5500 camera fitted with a Sigma 17-70mm lens, which allows me to take both detailed and wider shots... even if I lose some sharpness compared with a fixed focal length.

After climbing the gentle slope, here I am in front of the church and let me tell you straight away that, much to my regret, I wasn't able to get inside. St Martin's is only open for mass on the first Sunday of each month, and there's very little chance that I'll be there. But you never know...

So I opted for the beautiful graveyard, which overlooks the surrounding fields and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area from its vantage point.

I particularly like the tall cypress trees and the vegetation, which is left somewhat free. In fact, the entrance to the cemetery specifies that chemicals and weedkillers are now banned, which is excellent news!

This is the side of the church and other details, and the third image shows one of the many tombs of the nuns who lived nearby in a convent.

In truth, I think I arrived at just the right time to catch the early rays of light, and in particular to intercept them in the fragile pollen balls of the dandelions that seemed to be guarding the cemetery and any souls that might still be there...

DSC_1998.JPG

The rest of the time, I'm left to meditate on life, the fate of human beings and nature, and to philosophize as, you'll have understood, I quite often do !

DSC_2005.JPG

As I set off again, I was graced with a superb view in front of me and in my direction, and to be honest, I couldn't have asked for more !

That's all for this little exploration of the cemetery of St Martin's church. What's your relationship with these places and with death in general ? I'll be very curious to find out more. Thank you for your time and see you soon,

Even though for many people it seems creepy to visit graveyards or call them a touristic attraction, I did visit quite a few and I gotta say that they have their charm too. From architecture to the place where they are located and so on... but it's definitely worth being explored more :)

Yes, I always consider these places for what they are first and foremost, places of meditation. But that doesn't stop me appreciating the place :) and especially the calm energy you can find there!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a lovely weekend !

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
