Crossing Paris under the Rain - Gold coin, Pizza Ingredients and other Technical Findings [EN - FR]
Good evening, I hope the week has gone well for everyone !
Today was a long walk through the damp, warm autumn windy city. Quite a few stops at different places in order to find what I could, in part, find on the internet. But I don't appreciate this mode of consumption at all, even if at times it has become quite complicated to do otherwise.
I'm more of a flea market, garage sale, hardware store where you can buy two needles and seven buttons...!
And it is precisely in a small flea market in the twelfth arrondissement of Paris that my adventure begins today. It's one of the most beautiful food market in Paris, which I already talked about in a previous article, I let you get your hands on it :) Little hint, there is a cleaver on the main picture ^^
I'd like to use this introduction to thank @dswigle for this initiative and the #MarketFriday community! It's an idea that had to be had :)
So it all starts in this market where I don't buy anything, for vegetables and other foodstuffs, it will be further on my way...
No, what interests me is the flea market and its treasures of old things, dusty books and hundreds of old-fashioned porcelain cups !
I still don't buy anything, except at this book stall, all in bulk in which I discover what I was looking for... A book on house building !
Here is the book in question which seems to me very complete although simple to understand, while being in very good condition ! Everything I needed :D

The following two caught my eye, but I couldn't afford to take them, not because of the price (each book is between one and two euros) but mainly because I must have 200 books waiting to be read at home ! And I can't disappoint them !
I go to a friend's house who grows quite a few plants in the courtyard of his building.
I find a carob tree - Ceratonia siliqua - which seems to have some rather peculiar flowers, at least that I had never seen before.
Here is the tree in question, if you have any clarification or first hand information, I always prefer to hear that rather than just go into "dialogue" with my web browser...!
But there is no question of lingering and I set off again from the Place de la Bastille towards the Place de la République.
On the way, I did have lunch with a friend, a stop I did not document, mostly because we had so little time together. (It was on his lunch break).
I arrived at the Place de la République, the adjacent streets still beaten by the rain.

Below, some details of an old door that caught my attention... I must admit that I have a soft spot for these decorative and functional elements.

I continue towards the West, to the Stock Exchange district, where shares and monetary bonds used to be exchanged... with the arrival of electronics, everything has gone to La Défense.
But as what I came for was physical money in precious metal, no problem for that! The main street is full of all kinds of exchange offices and it's an experience I like to have from time to time. It's always interesting to talk to these people who can observe trends in the population. Here it's apparently a bit tense because of inflation.
Personally, and even if I remain optimistic, I think we are in for quite a ride in the West! We'll have to wait and see, and in any case, only time will tell. No reason to worry, especially if we prepare ourselves a little bit every day...

This is a 2O franc gold, with the effigy of Marianne dating from 1909. About 6 grams of pure gold.
My purchase completed, I continue towards the north of the city, in the direction of Montmartre. On the way I bought some aubergines and a transparent cutting ruler on which you can see the millimeters. Perfect to be precise.
Short break in a café before the last climb !
As you can see, a good walk and a good deal, especially as I got heavier and heavier as I went along !

Last picture of some of my purchases, some I've already talked about and some I haven't. So let's go in order, from left to right : coffee, amaranth seeds, a gold coin, an aubergine and finally, my high precision ruler ^^ !

For the record, a screenshot of my film, this last image gave me a tough time, haha !

I hope you are well and that you have enjoyed this article. Don't hesitate if there are parts you would like to know more about !
I thank you for reading and wish you a very good weekend, take care of yourself... and like the cicada of the fable of La Fontaine, don't let yourself be deprived until the moment you might need it the most !
<3

Environ 6 grammes d'or pur.

Beautiful post. thank you for sharing.
reading you today strikes me that you are not only a Star seed, but also an old soul.

I got more then 40 out of the 50 ; )
number 49 will explain why I think so.
I love the Carob trees. they can and live for centuries. while hiking in the Serra Tramuntana in Mallorca, I used to eat their fruit, which is sweet pure protein and is found everywhere.
I have two already planted here in the farm, another still in a pot.
Like the book you bought.
wishing you a peaceful weekend
Hey @bigorna1 :)
Glad you enjoyed it !
Just tried the quiz and I’m clearly matching 95% of the points there... I already kind have suspicions about this ! Understood that quite long time ago as since my young age, I tend to feel more comfortable with older people :)
I discovered those tree recently, more by their fruits here, but not sure about the climate would be enough to grow with success.. Your region seems more indicated :)
Thanks for your visit and wise shares as always, take care too !
Wow, what a day @anttn 😁😎 you walked a lot in that weather and visited many places along the way.
Great buys I would say.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I enjoyed reading it and seeing the captures. Beautiful, even though it rained.
Have a wonderful evening and great weekend.
Bigg hugg 😘🤗
Oh, rain... it is so much sun here, so a bit of rain would come good for me. And the flea market!! That's cool, old books and other antique stuff... do you see sometimes music scores too?
So I hope it rains a little for you, we are almost all week, it should be a little better distributed anyway ^^!
I rarely see any, but next time I'll think of you ...! Are you looking for something in particular ?
No, not really, but it is interesting when I see something connected to music, so music books, scores or even old instruments. (if I have an opportunity to be at a flea market, but haven't visited any for a long time. 🎶😇
All right ! I will keep an eye open if I found something hehe ^^
Take good care dear @mipiano, I hope you're doing well ☀️
Yes, trying to catch up with a backlog and preparing the sunny vibes for the new week :)))
You are good too? Enjoy the week!!! 🌞
Yep, all good ! I'm also trying to catch up.. lol... endless run !
Thanks, you too :)
Thank you for the delightful tour of your shopping trip, @anttn and a the lovely 1909 20 Franc to also show for it.
hey 👋 You’re most welcome 🙃
I already have few of them, but not that date and minting :)
Have a sweet Sunday!
Please drop the link to your post on the #MarketFriday post here
Thank you very much.
Ouups, sorry :)
I will correct this...
Have a good weekend dear, I hope you're doing good 🤞
Raining. But you seem had a good day 😊.. Happy weekend
Yep :) Love the rain, so it was nice !
Thanks you for for passing by, I hope you’re having a good one too 🤞🏼
When I saw market I thought you wanted to prepare something tasty for the weekend but I was surprised to see you only bought a book, a gold coin and few other things. So what do you want to use the gold coin for? I wonder
The book on construction, did you not get it again because you did not add it to the last image of things you bought? Well, I think having coffee was perfect for the weather and it's a good thing you were able to have lunch with your friend too.
Oh my!!! That was a very long distance you covered even with the weather, cool. Hope you are having a great weekend friend? I hope your weekend be peaceful and blissful 😊.
Oh, I did buy stuff to prepare some tasty pizzas too :)
The gold coin is to save some money against inflation... Quite enjoy this technique.
About the book, I found it in the first flea market, but I showed it when I arrived at home, better picture ^^
The weekend is nice so far, good rest and clean at home !
And you ? I hope fore the best 🍀✌🏼
Wow, that's nice, it's so sad that I won't get to be part of the pizza party, lolz.
That's wise, I never really thought of it to that direction, hehehe.
Oh I see, have you started reading it yet?
I see, you did some clean up too, that's awesome, good job 🥰.
Yes, I'm doing fine, just been a little tired, so I'm trying to get more rest 🙂.
hehehe, next time 😉 !
Nope, still on others readings first :) but I will probably soon...
Take care and some rest dear 😘 Have a good evening !
Alright, I look forward to it 🥰.
Oh, that's nice.
You too friend, have a good evening. Hope you've had dinner?

Yep, super stew with onions, butternut, eggplants and rice 😉

Oh, what a marvelous coin! I am a true believer in having to collect today for later tomorrow. We all need to and whoever thinks not will be in shock down the road. It never will hurt to be prepared and not need it. But to be without?
Please no.
I like your carob tree! Paris doesn't really suit them, although we can make almost anything grow, yes? That is a male plant! You can tell by the flowers. The flowers are full of pollen, which gives off a strong scent attracting insets and take the pollen, got to the female tree and cross pollination happens! only the female flowers that are pollinate will develop into carob pods.
Voila!
I am so jealous! I love, love, loved Paris and everything about it. I live in the Washington, DC area, and honestly, the cobbled streets, the doors, the wonderful flea markets - and everything French! What is not to love?
Books!!! One never has enough! Never!!! :) What a great Market! Thank you!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through by their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
Take pictures! Be creative!
5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
Hey @dswigle ! Thanks you for passing by :D
Yeah, gold coins are good to have, a bit of crypto and precious metals, why should it be antinomic ? Perhaps because it's not :)
Thanks you for those valuable informations about the carob tree, I will transmit that to my friend.
Yeah, Paris is beautiful as always, but troubling times are ahead, and I'm afraid, it's more a place to visit than to live ! The plan is still the same for us, get out now that it still possible and come back to have good times you don't really have when you live here on a daily basis..
Thanks again, I hope you're well those days, take care 😘
