If there is no rattan, roots will do. This is my illustration for the Kapa Rubber Dam Krung Peusangan, which stretches across two villages, Kapa, Peusangan-Meunasah Mee, Kutablang sub-district, in Bireuen Regency.

Good evening, my friends, welcome back to the #worldmappin community.

A few days ago, I visited a tourist destination that recently went viral on social media in my area: the Karet Kapa Dam.

Since its construction, the dam has never been fully operational for various reasons. It is no longer used to channel water to rice fields in Kutabang District and its surroundings.

The Karet Kapa Dam has quietly become a tourist attraction for those who miss the river.
So...
On this occasion, I want to share some images of the place I visited a few days ago with my friends. So, please continue to follow my blog for more photos of the place, along with a short post from me.

Recently, the weather in my area has been very hot, and some villages have even found that their wells have started to dry up.
However, for some reason, today is a blessing, considering that my area has been drenched by quite heavy rain for two days in a row. Likewise, on our way to this tourist destination, the atmosphere was very quiet, both on the roads and in the villages. There weren't many people going about their activities because most of the people in my area work as farmers, so they decided not to go to the fields due to the unpredictable weather.

And these are some images I captured on the way to the location. At that time, the clouds had just cleared. I personally was a little unsure about visiting this tourist destination because we were going to a river, so I was a little hesitant to see what the conditions were like there due to the unpredictable weather.

My friends...
After traveling for about 20 minutes from the city center, we finally arrived at our destination.

The road to the Karet Kapa Dam is quite accessible from both Kuta Blang and Peusangan. The local community is currently developing this tourist destination. I hope it will develop further in the future, as this is a natural tourist attraction with very clean water even during the dry season, as I've seen on various social media platforms.

It was true, as I suspected. When we arrived at the location and looked out over the lake, it was a bit of a shame. The rain in my area had made the river water very murky over the past few days, but it was also a blessing for my area, which had been experiencing a drought for the past few months.

And don't worry about food. Many street vendors sell everything from noodles to various drinks. There's also a long-standing canteen there, with reasonably priced food and drinks, as you can see in the picture I shared above.
And considering the unfavorable weather, when we visited this destination, it wasn't as crowded as usual.

Some of my friends also took pictures there to share on social media even though the atmosphere was not supportive. I also did not miss the momentum to do the same thing 😅😅

Even though the weather was unfavorable, some visitors still enjoyed activities like fishing and swimming.

My suggestion, along with those of other visitors, is that in the future, hopefully the management can deploy cleaning staff, as food packaging trash is strewn everywhere. Furthermore, a security system needs to be built independently by the local community. The underwater soil structure is uncertain in some deep areas, and in some shallow areas, it's sometimes soft, forming long islands in the middle of the river, which is quite challenging. A rescue team is also needed at the tourist attraction, as many families bring their children to this water tourism location. The Karet Kapa Peusangan Dam, which was never used, has now become a viral tourist attraction on various social media platforms, becoming a perfect place to quench your thirst amidst the scorching sun that has been baking in Aceh for the past few months.

Okay, friends, those are some of the images and writings I've written on this blog. I hope you all enjoy and enjoy what I've shared. See you in my next blog.
