Reflection on the competition [2]
Hello everyone.
I hope each and every one of you is doing well. It's been a while; I've been somewhat absent. As usual, it's always a pleasure for me to be among you. In this article, I will outline the rest of the conditions of the art competition, as well as my thoughts on the competition and the choice of my partner.
Regarding the rest of the conditions of the Talent Lydia Ludic competition, Executive Director Mac Billeci explained that likes for each artist's work on Lydia Ludic's page would count for 50%, and the jury's vote for 50%.
The top three finishers in the competition would receive three grand prizes for this edition. The first prize, which will be awarded to the best work, will be awarded a financial envelope of one million (1,000,000) CFA francs and publication of the work in the pan-African weekly newspaper Jeune Afrique. The second prize is a financial envelope of five hundred thousand (500,000) CFA francs. The third prize is a financial envelope of two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000) CFA francs.
The three winning works will be exhibited in the Lydia Ludic gaming rooms. The winners will receive their prizes on Saturday, May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at the Lydia Ludic room, located opposite the General Mathieu Kérékou Stadium. As I explained in one of the previous articles on "Considering the Competition," and among the competition's requirements, I had to have a partner—a journalist, a public figure, or an influencer—who would promote the work produced in the media.
I didn't know any journalists or influencers directly. I had to think of a way to connect with one, or if possible, to find one. I finally settled on a young woman from the Bénévoles sur le projet effet graff 7 WhatsApp group. She's easy to get along with. A quality I don't have and one I needed to win this competition.
I wrote to her and explained the competition's requirements. I then tried to find out if she was available during the competition period. She had agreed to be a partner for this art competition. I tried to meet with her so we could discuss it face-to-face and choose a day to go together to register. I had to discuss with her how much of the prize money I would give her at the end of the competition. My partner's name is Agnikè. At first, there was one fundamental question we asked ourselves. During the competition period, how should I arrange transportation for my partner, how should I provide their daily meals, and their internet connection?
I had to establish a budget for this aspect of the competition. The canvas, paint, and varnish would all have to be provided by me. This aspect of the competition isn't necessarily visible. After that, we chose a day and went to register at the Lydia Ludic games room, opposite Place de l'Étoile Rouge.
Thank you for reading this article. I will share my thoughts on the art competition with you later, and if possible, the first sketches of my work. In the meantime, take care.
