Reflection on the competition

Good evening.

I hope everyone is doing well. In the previous article, I discussed my first painting, including one of my Japanese language teacher. In this article, I will explain the conditions and objectives of the painting competition I participated in.

The painting competition called Talents Lydia Ludic, launched by Lydia Ludic, a subsidiary of the Péfaco International group, aimed to promote culture with attractive prizes.

Promoting culture through painting would allow young talent to express themselves. In its first edition, it was launched in Benin and five other African countries, including Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger, Rwanda, and Togo. I participated in the Benin competition. In Benin, the competition was launched by the CEO of Lydia Ludic on Friday, April 16, 2021, during a press conference.

The principle of the competition is to create a 50x50 cm canvas painting with the theme of the Jackpot. The competition was open to all artists residing in Benin. Participants will be in pairs: one artist plus a journalist, public figure, or influencer. The pair was call for teamwork.

The artist, through their creativity, and the journalist, public figure, or influencer would promote the work produced on Lydia Ludic's page, where it would be posted.

I didn't know any journalists or influencers directly. I had to think of a way to connect with one, or if possible, to have one. After some thought, I remembered that in the WhatsApp group of Volunteers on the graffiti effect project, there was a young woman who was easy to get along with. She easily led the group both in the field and via messages. I wrote to her very early on, informing her of the project and my ambition to be among the competition winners.

Getting her to agree to be a partner for this competition wouldn't be easy. I also didn't know her availability.

Participation in the competition was subject to free registration during the period from April 21 to 28, 2021. Registration could be done in Cotonou at the Lydia Ludic gaming room opposite the Red Star, in Porto-Novo, at the gaming room located in Catchi/Hlogou and in Parakou at the gaming room of Bakikoura district, opposite the Parakou District Court, upon presentation of an ID card.

In my case, I registered at the Lydia Ludic gaming room opposite the Red Star.

After registering, artists should produce their paintings and submit them to the Lydia Ludic headquarters no later than the afternoon of May 10, 2021.

Following the reception, the works would be posted online, and each pair would have to raise awareness to obtain as many likes as possible. According to General Manager Marc Billeci, only likes on the Lydia Ludic page would be taken into account.

Thank you for reading this article. The rest of the competition conditions and the choice of my partner in the next articles. In the meantime, take care.
