Weekend Experience - A Saturday Walk to the River Mill in St Neots
I have recently been invited to take part in POLIAC and it suddenly became vital to step up a bit.. π
I generally walk a bit more on a weekend as I have simply more time to do so and Mia appreciates the extra time she gets.
Saturday was rather lovely for a change, but in a fleece off, fleece back on sort of way.. π
Anyway, we took a stroll around the campsite area not far from our house over to the River Mill which I have done many, many times before and this won't be the last post about it.. lol
Here we go..
Mia trying to wait as patiently as possible for me to get out of bed.. π
I must say that day I struggled a little, hence the "stroll".
Oh, come on Mum.. can we go now?
Going down some steps from the carpark to the campsite we're entering the ancient woodland by the river.. not very big to be fair.. in fact not big at all, but very nice.
"Life finds a way" - A line out of one of my favourite movies..
A few new gates have been put up supposedly to protect the angling spots, however, I cannot quite see how a gate in mid air would do that? π€ It might still be in the making of course.. still..
It sure is big enough to fit a car through.. where that would come from is anyone's guess, but I'm sure I have paid with my taxes for this madness. π
Here's one that makes a bit more sense.
The campsite gets fully booked now and slots are taken up to the river.
It is a lovely site because you are right in town and get the best of both worlds, a bit of nature and shops and restaurants.
We've been up and down that river a fair few times in our little dinghy.
Almost by the lock now.
And a view aross the other side of that bridge
The lock; it deserves a closer look some other time.
That's the River Mill Pub back there. I turned around before getting there as it was shut, otherwise I would have had some breakfast of sort.
These boats are pretty much stationary and some people live in them.
Tracing our way back to the lock over there.
This was just so lovely when we came through here as the sun came through the trees.. The picture doesn't do it justice.
My Baby!! π
We took it a little easy on this walk, but still clocked up a fair few steps.
A bit of artwork on this bridge, there is a painting on the other side too, but it's way too overgrown right now..
You can see animals in this one, I think the other one shows parts of the town.
Coming back we were greeted by the bells of St Neots Parish Church

I said it before, I say it again: I tired dog is a good dog! π
That's it! Thank you so much for looking!

Rivers tend to be good for walks. Always good to get away from roads. At Radwell Meadows there is a gate with no fence around it. I wonder if it was a bit of a joke as it says something about shutting it to keep the flowers in.
π€£ππ€£ That sure sounds like it doesn't it, brilliant!
We camped there once with our caravan in Radwell. Very nice!
It's the one with the duck pond isn't it? Verry busy at times, the pond that is..
Not sure about the pond. I run along the Greenway by the meadows, but have been through Radwell itself up to the Baldock road too. I've explored all around here.
You would see it if you go through the village, it's right at the beginning on the left.

Woooh! Thank you very much!!!
Thank you on the reward.app note.. that's news to me..
I won't use that again then.. Thanks
Sorry, just so that you know:
I do things long term on Hive, I have no intentions of taking value out and thought I was doing the right thing using reward.app.
Shame I wasted my time with this post..
But I'm grateful for the insight.
