Lazy days and lots of insect
Good afternoon everyone.. Last couple of days I was not in the mood for anything... It was beautiful and sunny and all of the sudden rains started.. As usual an typical Irish weather..
I didn't have nothing to do so I took first small thing that I've found in front of me to take pics of..
These are perfect subject to shoot when is rainy day.. Package of the jellies as you can see lemon and orange ones.. And rest of it well you can assume where they went 🤣🤣
After the boring day sun came out so we had a bbq.. Omg it was super delicious..
After nice lunch I started to look around is there any insects around me.. And in front of my nose I found big Darner 😍 I was super amazed.. Look at this beauty
Females do not have blue eyes and are yellow-green in the areas that are blue on males. Both sexes can measure longer than 5 cm (2 inches), but wingspan is closer to 10 cm (4 inches). Wings are transparent. The abdomen has a repetitive pattern of white small white triangles, red-brown circles and blue triangles on each segment. The tip of the abdomen splits. While darners are disinterested in humans, if handled they may bite. Their jaws are large enough for a human to feel a pinch if bitten.
Darners mate in flight. A male places a sperm packet on his abdomen and, once joined in flight, a female will pick it up off of him and use it to fertilize her eggs, which she has attached to vegetation near water. Females then place fertilized eggs in warm, slow moving waters like ponds, swamps, creeks and small streams. Once hatched, the naiads live in the water, feeding on small aquatic insects, tadpoles and even small fish if they are able to catch them. After a few years, once the naiad is fully grown, it crawls out of the water (usually at night) and sheds its 'skin', molting into a winged adult, and flies away. source
Few angels and edits.. This is so amazing insect. She was super still while I was taking pictures of here.. It is blue eyed darner female 😍
On the other side of the bush I found few spiders and strange fly..
The legs of orb-weaver spiders are specialized for spinning orb webs. The webs are built by the larger females who hang head down in the center of the web or remain hidden in nearby foliage, with one claw hooked to a signal line connected to the main orb waiting for a disturbance to signal the arrival of prey. Prey is then quickly bitten and wrapped in silk before being stored for later consumption. The initial bite serves to paralyze the prey and minimize the danger of the spider herself being stung or bitten, and the enzymes thus injected serve to begin liquefaction of the prey's internal structures.
Alongside the use of the web to capture other prey, the spiders are also cannibals and prey on each other. However, this only happens before, during or after sexual activity. They attack based on their size, sexual experience and hunger levels.
A. diadematus is a reclusive creature and only bites humans if cornered or otherwise provoked. It responds to a disturbance by vibrating rapidly in its web until it becomes a blur, a reaction that is assumed to confuse potential predators source
If there is one type of creature that instils completely unwarranted fear into large numbers of people here in Ireland it has to be spiders. Such fear is completely unfounded, as none of the spider species found in Ireland are capable of harming humans in any way. If anything spiders perform an invaluable service in keeping down the number of insect pests in and around our homes.
Pardosa amentata is a common species of spider belonging to the family Lycosidae. Early naturalists observed large numbers of these spiders scurrying across the ground together, and it was once thought that they hunted in packs… hence the name. Wolf spiders are in fact solitary hunters, but the name has stuck, and is applied to members of the family around the world to this day. source
Although often overlooked because of its small size the zebra spider’s attractive black and white livery and its lively antics mean that it’s quite easy to spot if you look for it. The species is common throughout Ireland and can be found patrolling the walls of houses and gardens on sunny days throughout the summer months and well into the autumn.
This diminutive hunter belongs to a large family of spiders known as jumping spiders. Instead of trapping its prey in a web like many of its relatives the zebra spider relies on its exceptional eyesight and agility to stalk and catch its prey. A relatively small spider, the zebra spider grows to no more than 7mm (c. ¼ inch) long and females tend to be slightly larger than males. source
On the other side of the bush I found few spiders and strange fly..
Dolichopus ungulatus fly .. looks like real alien
And last one was amazing angle shades moth.. The angle shades moth mainly has two generations a year but caterpillars can be present all year round. Eggs are laid on a wide range of wild and cultivated plants in late May to June and August to October. Larvae of the second generation overwinter and can feed whenever night temperatures are above 5ºC (41ºF). Once fully grown, the larvae pupate in a cocoon just under the soil.
Larval food plants include: common nettle, hop, red valerian, broad-leaved dock, bramble, hazel, birches, oak, barberry and in gardens many other plants.
It is also a migratory species, capable of flying long distances. In late summer the resident British population is supplemented with many individuals arriving from mainland Europe. source
I did few pics so I can edit them and stack in to one.. And ofc it looked so bad at the end so I decided not to finish that 🙈 I was super annoyed after few tries.. How was your weekend.. Mine was OK.. For now 😎
if you would like to learn more about them you have link source for all of them..
Thank you for spending time with me this afternoon.. enjoy the rest of the day.

Absolutely stunning photos of the insects as always @anitahorvatirl :)
Lazy & "not in the mood" days are definately needed every now and again to recharge and nothing better than a great looking braai (BBQ) like that to follow on with.
Glad you had a good one and thanks for sharing :)

Those Darner Eyes looked immaculate in such amazing detail. Thanks for sharing these shots with us they were all excellent!
You should see me jump out from that bush.. My nose literally was 5 cm from her. I didn't even notice her.. She was super big.. Almost like my palm and fingers together.. Amazing creature.
That was interesting . When a person gets bored of everything and after seeing the surroundings, he gets a sense of photography, these photos become the best. Spiders were interesting.
Yes indeed.. I don't know why but usually I am scared of spiders but last 2 years they are are my main subject.. From up close they don't look so bad.. Actually some of them are really curious to see what is going on around them
