Después de recorrer varios pueblos llenos de historia y color, nuestro viaje por Boyacá nos llevó a un lugar que rompe cualquier expectativa: Playa Blanca, en la Laguna de Tota. El nombre ya despierta curiosidad, pero la experiencia es aún más sorprendente. Encontrarse con una playa de arena clara en medio de un piso térmico frío, rodeada de montañas y aire helado, es una de esas contradicciones hermosas que solo la naturaleza puede ofrecer.
El contraste es inmediato. Por un lado, el clima invita a abrigarse; por el otro, el paisaje parece sacado de un destino costero. El agua tranquila de la laguna refleja el cielo, la arena clara resalta entre los tonos verdes y azules, y todo se siente pausado, silencioso, casi contemplativo. No es una playa para el bullicio, sino para observar, caminar despacio y dejar que el entorno haga su trabajo.
Nuestra parada fue sencilla y breve, pero profundamente significativa. Caminamos, tomamos fotos, respiramos aire frío y limpio, y compartimos ese momento en familia, entendiendo que no siempre se necesitan grandes planes para que un lugar se quede en la memoria. Playa Blanca no busca parecer lo que no es; justamente ahí está su encanto.
Este tramo del viaje me recordó que la belleza no siempre sigue las reglas y que a veces lo más especial aparece en los lugares más inesperados. Así como este viaje, también esta etapa de mi vida está llena de contrastes: pausas necesarias, nuevos comienzos y espacios para simplemente estar. Boyacá, una vez más, nos regaló un paisaje que no solo se mira, sino que se siente.

**Adventure Through Boyacá: Playa Blanca at Lake Tota

After visiting several towns full of history and color, our journey through Boyacá took us to a place that completely breaks expectations: Playa Blanca, at Lake Tota. The name alone sparks curiosity, but the experience is even more surprising. Finding a white-sand beach in a cold climate zone, surrounded by mountains and crisp air, is one of those beautiful contradictions only nature can create.
The contrast is immediate. On one hand, the weather invites you to bundle up; on the other, the landscape feels straight out of a coastal destination. The calm waters of the lake reflect the sky, the light-colored sand stands out against shades of green and blue, and everything feels slow, quiet, almost contemplative. This is not a beach for noise or crowds, but for observing, walking at an unhurried pace, and letting the surroundings do their work.
Our stop was simple and brief, yet deeply meaningful. We walked along the shore, took photos, breathed in the cold, clean air, and shared that moment as a family—realizing that meaningful experiences don’t always require elaborate plans. Playa Blanca doesn’t try to be something it’s not; that honesty is exactly where its charm lies.
This part of the trip reminded me that beauty doesn’t always follow the rules, and that sometimes the most special places appear where you least expect them. Just like this journey, this stage of my life is also full of contrasts: necessary pauses, new beginnings, and moments meant simply to be lived. Once again, Boyacá gave us a landscape that isn’t just meant to be seen, but truly felt.
