📷 Beauties Of The Forest 🍄

On my last forest rounds in late fall 2023, I was able to make some nice mushroom finds. Most of the things I came across were not suitable for the cooking pot. One of the most beautiful motifs is of course the fly agaric. I was able to photograph some beautiful specimens again this year.

auf meinen letzten Waldrunden im Spätherbst 2023 konnte ich noch einige schöne Pilzefunde verzeichnen. Das meiste, was mir vor die Linse kam, war dabei nicht für den Kochtopf geeignet. Eines der schönsten Motive ist natürlich der Fliegenpilz. Auch dieses Jahr habe ich wieder einige wunderschöne Exemplare ablichten können.

In wartime, many fly agarics also found their way into cooking pots. After boiling them several times, the mushrooms are said to be edible. However, I can only advise against exposing yourself to unnecessary risk. In addition, EVERY mushroom book or mushroom blog I know of lists it as a poisonous mushroom. The common puffball is also a representative of the so-called "war mushrooms". It is edible when young, but is said not to taste particularly good.

Im Kriegszeiten sind auch viele Fliegenpilze in die Kochtöpfe gewandert. Nach mehrfachen Abkochen, soll man die Pilze verspeisen können. Ich kann allerdings nur davon abraten, sich einem unnötigem Risiko auszusetzen. Zudem gilt er in JEDEM mir bekannten Pilzbuch oder Pilzblog als Giftpilz. Der Flaschenstäubling ist ebenfalls ein Vertreter der sog. "Kriegspilze". Im jungen Zustand ist er eßbar, soll allerdings geschmacklich keine Offenbarung darstellen.

The false deathcap is undoubtedly a poisonous mushroom. However, it is nowhere near as poisonous as the death cap and the fool's mushroom.

Zweifelsfrei ein Giftpilz ist der gelbe Knollenblätterpilz. Allerdings ist er bei weitem nicht so giftig wie die tödlich giftigen weißen und der grünen Knollenblätterpilz.

I did have a bit of luck and managed to find a few porcini mushrooms in November. The two in the picture above went into my collection basket, of course. The other specimens here are far too old and remained in the forest.

Ein paar Steinpilze habe ich dann sogar doch noch im November gefunden. Die beiden auf dem oberen Bild sind natürlich in meinen Sammelkorb gewandert. Die anderen Exemplare hier sind viel zu alt und verblieben im Wald.

Even if you can't find edible mushrooms, a walk in the woods is always a great thing.

Selbst wenn ich in Sachen Pilzen leer ausginge, ist eine Waldrunde immer ein tolle Sache.

I really don't find the verdigris agaric every year. Although it is edible, it is not supposed to be a culinary revelation. However, I'm always happy when I find it because I really like its turquoise coloring.

Den Grünspan-Träuschling finde wahrlich ich nicht jedes Jahr. Er ist zwar essbar, soll aber auch keine kulinarische Offenbarung darstellen. Ich feue mich aber immer, wenn ich finde, weil mir seine türkise Farbgebung einfach sehr gut gefällt.
