Summer is vibrating!
Greetings, dear friends. To those who may read this post, I tell you that this is a new community that I discovered yesterday while checking some posts in my feed. It is a fairly new community. @mipiano brings us this great space dedicated to that era that, to be honest, many like it, others not so much, and even some hate it -although it sounds a bit harsh, that's how it is. To each his own. That's life, and that's why it's so interesting: because if there is no diversity of thought, there are no different perspectives of our environment.

The diversity of seasons on our planet serves a perfect function in certain geographic regions. For example, here in Colombia where I currently live, although I am originally from Venezuela, we do not experience the four classic seasons, since Colombia is located near the equator. This country is defined by having a tropical climate and, commonly, only has two distinct seasons: the dry (summer) and the rainy (winter). The dry climate predominates, which is interspersed as follows:

  • Dry season: Generally occurs from December to March and from July to August.
  • Rainy season: Generally occurs from April to June and from September to November.

Since I have been living in Colombia, I have honestly felt that it has been eight years of intense summer. It sounds exaggerated, but it practically is. The heat in the area where I live is extremely strong. I remember last year we had temperature records of between 42°C and 45°C, something impressive. The drought was also taking a lot of ground.

The first few days after migrating to Colombia, it was hard to get used to this climate. Of course there are cold areas here, such as moorlands and mountains, but in general the summer heat is the champion.
On the other hand, the city where I live, Barrancabermeja, is as far as I know in the top of the hottest cities in the country. In fact, they call it “The beautiful daughter of the sun”, and social networks abound with memes related to the heat felt here.

A not so positive detail is that we are very far from the sea, so to enjoy the beach you have to travel many hours. That is why we only have a few recreational places with swimming pools that are very close to where we live and one or two rivers, which are somewhat remote. People here usually ride motorcycles, practically covered from head to toe, which sometimes makes us laugh because it looks like a suit of armor against the sun. And when it rains, it's quite an event for us. It usually rains at night, and if it miraculously rains during the day, the sun comes back with more strength after a while, as if nothing had happened.

IMG_20250714_152711.jpg

In previous months, my wife and I used to visit these recreational centers a lot to escape the heat, but now we are unable to do so because she is pregnant. Still, I must say that summer has allowed us to see many places and experience precious moments with family and friends. It's a great time to share, and it's also ideal for parents to spend more time with their children, as @mipiano mentioned in her post on the topic of vacations. Summer certainly lends itself to traveling and building unforgettable memories.

I remember that in my old house the summer heat suffocated us so much that even I had to sleep with a towel around my neck because at night the heat was terrible and the sweating was as if you were standing in the sun, there were nights where I could hardly sleep and I got up at 2 or 3 in the morning to take a shower desperate for the heat, but I learned to live with this climate and if it is of nature somehow you have to enjoy it and adapt to it.

With the intention that this community has a little more exposure I'm going to take the trouble to mention some close colleagues, it's great that spaces continue to open to so many topics, and of course the summer has already found its place in Hive.
Friends cheer up (@sugeily2 , @avdesing, @jesuslnrs, @stellamartinez, @elbuhito, @monipk35, @kelvinspace, @leogomez1414, @ikigaidesign).
I will mention only them to not abuse the mentions, I hope this community has in the coming days a summer rain of publications, blessings to all and happy summer.

What? 45 degrees Celsius? 😱 Those are some real, hot summer vibes haha! 🔥

First of all, welcome to this brand new community. 🌞 I am glad you liked it from the first instance and shared your experience. The explanation is really great about the climate in your city, I didn't know there is no real spring or autumn, that it is more like just having two seasons. Both warm though hahaha, so I would dare to say that you have summer vibes over the whole year then 😁

Also, thank you for the shout-out to other Hivers 🙌🙏, and thank you very much @ancnoticias for your great sunny post. I really liked it as well as the others that have been published by a few other users since the community was created a day ago! :))

Thank you very much for the warm welcome, as for the topic if friend, we were desperate that time with so much heat hahahahaha, even many as a joke placed a pan in the sun for five minutes then fried eggs there hahahahah quite an event. On the other hand, just as you say, summer in these parts is almost all year round. Also another fact, the water pipes get so hot that when you open the shower head to take a shower the water comes out as if it was from a water heater for at least 10 seconds, but well we have learned to adapt.

Oh my, so when you open the shower, you have to wait for the water to cool down instead of waiting for the water to arrive through the pipes from the heater 😂

Adaptation is a must, at every place, but especially when you face a climate with a lot of heat.

Yes totally, fortunately I have moved to another place that at least at night you can sleep well because there is a lot of vegetation and the night becomes smoky, in the day if it is very hot, in fact here the houses are built high to counteract the impact of the sun on the roofs, the average height is about 4 meters high.

I was listening to stories by friends from Venezuela about the "never-ending" summer and temperatures around 25 Degrees, where I could find myself perfectly... But, what you share for Columbia, having heat over 40 is a bit too much... If you don't have an A/C in your home, how can you cool down at all? I complain whenever it's over 30, can't imagine over 40... 😂

Thanks for sharing Colombian Summer Vibes! 🍻

It's incredible what you say about the weather there. It reminds me of summer in Argentina, where it was impossible to sleep, and I also had to put a wet towel on myself... but there it's like that almost all year round... with my low blood pressure, I couldn't live there!!! Thank you very much for the invitation, I'll be there very soon!!!🤗

I think it would be quite difficult for you because of your pressure, many people here have to deal with that, and it is not easy for them.

It wasn't easy before, and I wouldn't want to go through that again... it's very unpleasant.

I am also far away from the sea, how sad 😭😭😭😭 but well, I have had to adapt.
