The rounded forms characteristic of mosques were characteristic of the Byzantine style (then still the center of Christianity) in the Middle Ages. The Byzantine style was then dominant on the territory of Kyivan Rus.

Aye, the early Byzantine style. I have not indulged in that period and know little about it. But what you have said is intriguing. I am interested to learn more abt the time now.
I am very glad that I was able to interest you. I hope that in the near future I will be able to go to Kyiv again and photograph the incredible architectural monuments of that era.
