About Doing and Not Doing - Life Update from the Seaside
Hey Hello Hive Friends!
I actually have a lot of art to share with you, but today I felt it was time for a little diary/update/photo post :-)
We moved out of the van again and back into an apartment, this time in Greece!
It's still winter (even at the Mediterranean) and still cold in the van so we decided to look for another temporary home for a few weeks.
After about two months in the city we were longing for some piece and quite in a small boring village by the sea.
And luckily we found exactly that!
And it's perfect :-)
We've been in this village already last year for a few days and liked it very much, so we thought we'd come back and see if we can occupy one of the many holiday apartments that are all empty during the winter.
We feel very welcome here, the people are so very friendly. Almost every day we get oranges from our landlady or lemons from the neighbor (they all have trees in their garden), so I'm basically living of citrus fruits these days ^^
The weather is great (from a German point of view), it rains a lot and it's cold at night, but then in between the sun comes out and it's warm like in spring.
I really enjoy walking at the beach and watching the waves. Now in off-season there's really no one around, except the few people that live here.
I consider it a real privilege to have the ocean nearby. Its energy really has something special to it and it gives me a lot these days.
I actually feel very balanced lately.
I think I've learned a lot during the last year, which was quite challenging. I'm getting better and better in taking care for myself and listening to what I need. I do a lot, but I also rest a lot.
I even started to practice to "not doing anything" from time to time during the day.
I don't know if I want to call it meditation yet, that sounds so advanced which I'm not ^^
I just sit there on the bed or at the beach with closed eyes, consciously not doing anything, and I find a lot of peace and serenity in it. I'm not as far as to not even think yet, but I'm for sure working on it!
I've been feeling the need for a practice like that for years, but I just somehow didn't allow myself to stop doing things.
I think the trick is to find a balance between doing and not doing.
After quite a while where I couldn't bring myself to do anything on the computer but instead really enjoyed getting back into analog painting, the digital world now calls me again.
I'm having fun making digital art again, blogging and working on my nft/business stuff.
I figured that a day is quite long enough for both working and not doing anything. And I feel so much better (and I'm actually more productive) when I have both in my life <3
Lots of Love from the coast!

Long time no connect, @anafae! Sounds like a perfect place to be for the winter. Is the rent very expensive?
Absolutely. I try to spend time every day just daydreaming, even if it's just a minute or two. It's too easy to get distracted by so many things. Having space for thoughts to move through is essential and often when pure creativity arrives.
Love that picture of you.
Hey River!! <3 Yes, it's been quite a while! I need to catch up on your blog for sure! <3
Yes, It's the perfect place for us this year. Now in off-season the rent isn't that expensive, it's 300€ for one bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Water and electricity included, which is awesome. I'm sure it's a different price in summer though ^^
I love to be at the beach. I think the ocean really helps me calming down and daydreaming. Every time I sit there in the sand and close my eyes it's like the sound of the waves hug me and I instantly feel relaxed. I hope I can take that feeling with me when we move on.
I hope you're well <3
Sending Love!
Oh ocean time is the best. We have had a nice swell move through and I've spent three days surfing. I can hardly move but gee the 🌊🌊🌊 was so beautiful.
Sounds like you're doing well :<)
That banner art underneath your post looks amazing! Love it!
xx
Thank you! I designed it for my website (which is online now by the way: anafae.art a bit of self promotion here ^^ but I'm so happy with it! ) and didn't use it in the end because it didn't fit with the menu and stuff. Maybe I'll use it as a new banner here on Hive :-)
That website looks good!
What did you design it with?
And using it as a Hive banner sounds like a good idea :^)
Yeih, thank you!! <3
I ended up with wix.com, after trying out about 8 other website editors ^^
I had actually loved to host my website at one.com, which was a recommendation from a friend. Their editor is great (not as many fancy features as wix.com, but I don't need most of them anyway) and their customer support was really good, very friendly people there! Also it's not as expensive as all those big companies.
But unfortunately they don't offer .art domains, and I wasn't ready to chose a different one. Anafae.art looks so nice!
Good to know :^)
