Plants can be drama queens when the watering is late, but your steady bucket routine is why the jute is bouncing back fast and the early weeding will keep that momentum. You could squeeze a bit more moisture time with mulch or small basins around the stems since that slows evaporation and suppresses weeds. Do you already use mulch or plan to try it this season?

I always use the method when weeding. Inside of eradicating the weeds finally. I use them to mulch.

Smart move. Chop and drop saves time and locks in moisture. I like to let the pulled weeds dry in the sun for a day so they do not reroot, and I skip any with seed heads or those creeping runners.
