POBphotocontest: Flowers

Hello everyone, here is my entry to the POBphotocontest for the week with the theme: FLOWERS.

There are many flowers planted by men in his bid to make hie environment beautiful. Some of these flowers could be ornamental or medicinal in nature. Let's take a look at two I just came across, as part of my entry for this week's edition of the contest.

One of such flowers is Hippeastrum striatum commonly called striped Barbados lily. Hippeastrum striatum is a flowering perennial herbaceous bulbous plant from the Amaryllidaceae family that is native to southern and eastern Brazil. I saw this plant in a cashew farm. A closer look will show a dry leaf of cashew. I don't know if striped Barbados lily has a medicinal value. But I think it has an ornamental value.

The next in line is the ixora flower. This is also an ornamental flower as most people usually plant them within their premises for decoration and it's beauty which radiates whenever it is in full bloom.

It could be reddish or yellowish in colour. The one in view is the reddish version of the ixora flower. I bet you'll also like them too. Have a look at some few pictures of ixora which I snapped.

This is my entry in the #POBPhotocontest. To take part in the contest please check out the details in the contest link HERE
