Una carrera por Las Terrazas (es/en)

Hoy una vez más quise presumir de una parte especial de mi Cuba bella. Estuve viendo algunas fotos de cuando fuimos a una carrera de orientación en Las Terrazas. Quise compartir con ustedes mi experiencia en este lugar.

Primeramente quisiera decir que Las Terrazas es una pequeña comunidad turística rural. Es un entorno único en el conectar con la naturaleza. Ubicada a orillas del río San Juan, dentro de la Sierra del Rosario, en la Provincia de Artemisa, de la parte occidental de Cuba.
Empezamos el día súper entusiasmados, ya que íbamos a salir de la rutina e íbamos a adentrarnos en un mundo de exploración. Participaron profesores y estudiantes de la Universidad y en especial de la facultad de Cultura Física.

Montamos una pequeña "guagua" que nos llevó hasta el campismo. Fuimos muy bien recibidos por los trabajadores y por quienes organizaban este evento a nivel de zona occidental.
Fuimos a la cabañita. Y luego de esto preparamos todo y nos dieron una conferencia de cómo se estaría realizando el evento en esos 3 días. En la noche fuimos a la recreación y conocimos a muchos jóvenes que venían desde Matanzas para poder participar de estas carreras.

Pues bien quisiera comentarles sobre lo que es una carrera de orientación. No es más que ubicarse en un mapa y encontrar puntos y marcarlos en el orden establecido por el recorrido. En cada punto hay una baliza que tiene una pequeña presilla con la que vas a marcar en el mapa, como señal de que encontraste ese punto.

Al día siguiente nos preparamos, y al llegar al lugar, lo primero era organizar a quienes le darán los mapas y el orden. Todos con el típico prearranque. Me dieron al fin el mapa y tuve 10 min para analizarlo y a partir de ahí salir corriendo a encontrar mi primer destino. En realidad la belleza que ví me impactó mucho.

Luego de estas carreras nos mereciamos un buen descanso, pero el descanso era conocer este bello pueblo. Lo que más me gustó fue el Canopy. Ver a la gente como se deslizaba desde lo alto y pasaban por arriba del río. No tuve la oportunidad de montar, pero en la próxima aventura lo haré.

Fuimos a la casa de Polo Montañés, todo cubano conoce a este cantautor, con una historia de leyenda y una carrera profesional corta e intensa. Este es el autor de varias canciones, pero la que más me gusta, "Flor pálida". Aquí vimos parte de su historia, conocimos a uno de sus hermanos, dimos un vistazo a la casa completa, lo bien cuidada y la gran historia que hay dentro de sus paredes.

Luego fuimos al coopelita de ese lugar, y el helado en realidad me sorprendió la calidad y lo barato que estaba. Me gustó el lugar y el trato de las personas. Quiero destacar que en este lugar las personas son muy amables y atentas.

Al día siguiente después de otra carrera fuimos a una pequeña cafetería a tomarnos un cafecito, exquisito como energizante. Fuimos a un lugar que en realidad no recuerdo el nombre, pero sí recuerdo que tuvimos que caminar varios kilómetros para poder encontrar varias posetas naturales, que me dejaron llena de asombro. Era un río inmenso y el agua era cristalina. Parecía que estaba en otro mundo, ese lugar me dejó súper asombrada.

Al regresar a casa, estábamos exhaustos pero con gran entusiasmo ya que sacamos esa necesidad de la juventud de explorar y conocer nuevos lugares. De también participar en este tipo de carreras donde ejercitas no solo tu cuerpo, sino también la mente.

Today once again I wanted to show off a special part of my beautiful Cuba. I was looking at some pictures of when we went to an orienteering race in Las Terrazas. I wanted to share with you my experience in this place.

The next day we prepared ourselves, and when we arrived at the place, the first thing was to organize who will give the maps and the order. All with the typical pre-start. They finally gave me the map and I had 10 minutes to analyze it and from there run to find my first destination. Actually the beauty that I saw shocked me a lot.

After these races we deserved a good rest, but the rest was to know this beautiful town. What I liked the most was the canopy. Watching the people as they slid down from the top and went over the river. I didn't get a chance to ride, but on the next adventure I will.

We went to the house of Polo Montañés, every Cuban knows this singer-songwriter, with a legendary history and a short but intense professional career. He is the author of several songs, but the one I like the most, "Flor pálida". Here we saw part of his story, met one of his brothers, took a look at the whole house, how well kept and the great history that lies within its walls.

The next day after another race we went to a small cafeteria to have a cup of coffee, exquisite and energizing.

We went to a place that I don't really remember the name, but I do remember that we had to walk several kilometers to find several natural pools, which left me full of amazement. It was a huge river and the water was crystal clear. It seemed like I was in another world, that place left me in awe.

When we returned home, we were exhausted but with great enthusiasm as we brought out that need of youth to explore and see new places. To also participate in this type of race where you exercise not only your body but also your mind.
