[Week 132] A ghostly walk.
A friendly greetings dear Hivers, the weekend is almost here and I have been encouraged to post in this interesting community WEEKEND EXPERIENCES. This is my first week on the platform and I am very motivated, so I will share with you some nice pictures I took last weekend, when I went with my partner @jetta.amaya to a beautiful walk that we like to do together, we have tried to do it with some friends, but we never get that plan, it seems that these roads are only willing to receive the two of us, without more company.
My community is very close to the main road that connects the state of Táchira with the state of Barinas. On one side of it is a hamlet called Santo Domingo and at the other end is another called Chururú. These two villages are connected by an old road that was used before the main road was built. This is a little traveled road, because only the locals know of its existence, anyone coming from outside could get lost if they try to pass through there, or simply pass through the main road completely ignoring that there is an alternative route.
Now if we want to talk about ghostly weekends, this would be an ideal one. My companion and I started our journey from our community to Santo Domingo, from there we walked about 18 kilometers to get to Chururú. The road is lonely and silent, the town of Santo Domingo seems a place abandoned by humans, this happens because we passed through there at noon, which means that the sun was half sky and is usually merciless and scorching, so people take refuge inside the house. However it is not uncommon to find packs of starving dogs and on this occasion we found a sack on the ground with corn kernels roasting in the sun, surely it belonged to one of the families living nearby to feed their chickens, or plant them as seeds.
We also met a family of buffaloes that posed for me and I was able to take some photos and videos. The municipality where I live is known for processing buffalo milk and distributing cheese and other derivatives to other states in the country. I could not get very close to these beautiful animals because they tend to be very aggressive and only a fragile barbed wire fence separated us.
What I found very striking was the crosses on the road, they look like small tombs in an abandoned cemetery. In fact, the whole road that we call Troncal Cinco and that connects the capital with our small municipality looks like a long cemetery. It is a very dangerous road and traffic accidents abound, so people usually put a cross with a small chapel in the place where their loved one died.
I don't believe in ghosts, I am really an atheist, I have long been very selective about what I choose to believe, but this walk seems to me to be from another world. The solitude is delicious and the silence is almost overwhelming, it is rare to find people walking this road, so when it happens one wonders for a few cold seconds, is it real? Or is it just a ghostly presence of those who, according to the oral tradition of our plains, wander these roads?
Then one returns to reality, greets cordially and continues enjoying the ride. This was my whole weekend experience, I hope you enjoy it, because I did. See you next time.
