I follow rivers - meet eastern Serbia

avatar

29.12.2022 - Grza, East Serbia.

This location is a sanctuary for all types of people, including those who want to enjoy nature from the restaurant's balcony or hike to the spring of the river Grza. Personally, I belong to the second group, though when I lived nearby, I rarely had company for a hiking adventure, so my visit always ended at the foot where the restaurant area is.

The slopes are overgrown with evergreen trees, oak, ferns, dozens of bushes and medicinal herbs, not to mention mushrooms, are located in a look a like - gorge.

A river follows you along the way, almost perfectly clear water, and the freshness in the air is palpable as you approach the first waterfall. Gentle and rough at the same time, occasionally you can come across a slight descent to the water itself, but the water is really cold, so if you need a wake-up call - don't hesitate to splash yourself - success is 100% guaranteed.

Runs long and free for about 23 kilometers before joining to the river Crnica.

When you arrive at the spring, you notice that it has been somewhat hidden; as you move closer to the destination, the most beautiful corners are placed along the way - just follow, that morning was perfectly sunny and fresh.

Changing golden turquoise hues that flow down the water's surface.

We would sometimes get caught in deep shade where it was sufficiently dark for the sun's reflection to appear magical in places where the trees were very tall (although I am not a romantic, nature is an exception).

Every trunk was hugged by thick coverings of fresh, juicy moss, forming a moss paradise. Otherwise, during the winter, children's camps were organized here and this piece of freshness was used for the training of athletes.

High air quality.

We came to a stop and crossed the bridge over the river. From here, you can choose to head left or right without taking a wrong turn, but the contrast between the glassy lake's calm surface and the acoustic rustling of the water lifts endorphin.

It's been years since I've been here, and the entire route seemed shorter than it is, so to speak; I'm already tired of the constant climb, which isn't particularly steep but is noticeable due to my poor training. Time to move on, and knowing what awaits me at the end, I'm gladly rushing. The slopes of the forest are entangled in thick roots, most of which are visible; the coast opposite the river is gently visibly crumbling.

With the exception of where the forest took care of herself, I have very rarely seen it renewed.

We really lack afforestation.

You can find fishermen camping on the lake as the river is a favorite place of fast skilled fish like trout that enjoys the clear, cold mountain water.

A huge piece of mushroom tucked in a beech tree, covered with a moss blanket. Fomes fomentarius, I call it the Forest Death Reaper as they are mostly found on trees that have come to an end.

Another waterfall, I managed to slide down the bank and find a place to stand.

Spring, now that I think about it, should have been covered in a thick, fluffy white blanket. That's the last vague memory I have of this place.
Water seeps through the rocks as it runs along the narrow canyon, gently brushing and coloring moss in the most beautiful green.

Unfortunately, the path stretches further along the hills and mountains that already requires additional equipment, the path leads further to the Goat's Horn, and then to the top of Vis, from which you can see the mountain Rtanj (the mountain is pyramidal in shape, and from there comes the best tea mix). The temperature had gone down, I could see my exhalation, and my nose had turned red.

This is the side of the forest whose watershed has dried up long time ago. A memory remains of the white path that crossed through the golden leaf. If I'm not mistaken, the rocks are of limestone origin, there is also a cement mining site nearby.

The final shot before I left, as I promised myself that when in return, camera will be turned off so I can enjoy everything I saw through the viewfinder in larger format.

(we hope to return soon and do a full tour with proper gear)

And I follow you because of the way you see the world!

Tiny part of it...(:

I'm afraid that even the camera didn't manage to convey all the contrasts, silence and colors.
Really beautiful place.

Thank you!
If you are fan of sharp cold water, be it's guest! :D

There is a myth that claims anyone who bathes in this river, or more specifically, this spring, becomes more beautiful.(:
