Beauty is stuck?
Tell me beauty is stuck without telling me
It's been long time since inspiration based on the mundane of life hasn't strike me. This post is mainly aimed at the women's side of Hive, although I would be very interested to hear what the men have to say about it - do not hesitate!
Do any of you also feel that beauty is somehow stuck?
Not in the way that happens when your heel unintentionally gets caught in a crack in the sidewalk and you have to jerk your foot like a crazy horse to free it so you can keep walking gracefully down the street, but rather as if it were stuck—trapped, packed, unable to be consumed until the lid is opened.
I do.
Recently, I shamelessly eavesdropped on a conversation between two twenty-year-old girls, women or I am not even sure how shall I address them, and the topic was vitamins, how many and often are they consuming it.
You would say nothing so important that my ears would be interested in, but the sentence "I take a total of 12 pills before I go to sleep"
Wait, what?
In my head, I counted all those pills and tablets, imagined myself swallowing them disgustingly, chanting that a bunch of those elixirs would make me beautiful when I stood in front of my bathroom cabinet the next morning.
Oh young lady, in my twenties all I was caring about was good hydrated skin, about collagen and other emulsions my body will take care, it's still productive, actually it's the most productive in those ages, I really had no time to wrap my mind about expensive bottles.
Nowadays, expensive bottles and high price tags under products became a measurement for beauty.
Basically you can not be pretty until you open the magic bottle, sad, but that how it sounds in my head. Instagram also contributed to all of this, the amount of beauty tips that can be found there would satisfy ten generations to come, regardless of all that, new content is published every day and just imagine, THIS PRODUCT WILL MAKE YOU BE EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL TO YOUR PARTNER, to attract sighs wherever you step, and the world will bow down to you.
Yeah sister right, they barely make a difference between shampoo and hair conditioner (no pun intended).
All of this has nothing to do with hygiene or fact that each of us should take care of health and appearance.
It is useless to discuss the extent to which consumerism influenced all of this, but did beauty get stuck in some minimalist, expensive-looking package, in the logo of a world-famous cosmetics brand?
How many products do you actually need to do a decent make up?
Base for this, fixative for that, eye shadows, lipsticks, brushes, blushes, powders - stone, liquid, eyebrow pencil, under the eyebrows, for pupils, eyelashes.
What the hell!
Got dizzy here....but list goes way longer then this one.
I will not leave out the latest trend of lip balm intervention that makes your lips perfect, nor micro blade eyebrows, after which your skin peels like a snake when it changes, and for God's sake, neither silk eyelashes, which often act like those little brooms you use to quickly clean your desk.
Before I grabbed the camera, it took me two hours to experience an inspiring revelation while constantly staring at the black lacquered stiletto on the table, my humble make up kit, waiting for the answer to the question to appear in the visual.
Did I answer it right, not sure, but this is how it looks to me when I say BEAUTY IS STUCK.
@monochromes, this is my entry for the #monomad challenge, thank you all for your time and interest in what I do.
Original looks, like it :) well done
Thank you, thank you! :)
Beauty is in the wallet of the consumer...
I went makeup-less for a few years. The pandemic hit and I was crying all the time and nobody was looking at me so there really was no point. I like my face without makeup. Recently I picked up some cheap eyeliner at the grocery store and started doing that again. I like that, too. But I don't need it to feel beautiful.
I have smile lines that are infinitely more visible when I wake up in my 40s to a simultaneously bloated and deflated face. I think the wrinkle creams help. I get them at the outlet store. At the very least they keep my skin from cracking in dry and cold weather. But biotin and other collagen supplements make me break out in weird skin tags and calcium bumps that take months to go away after I've stopped the pills. Pills are gross, anyway. Let's just be ourselves. We're beautiful enough.
I like your Rorschachs. I see:
moth

bunny

I have nothing against make up, neither ones who are enjoying it on contrary kudos to all make up artist out there, but there is no more difference between scene, glamorous and daily looks.
Once one of my friends literally criticized my middle class mascara. 😂
(trick is I am buying only those with preferred brush)
Beauty isn't price tag, neither someone is prettier cause of crazy expensive cosmetic, everything said also applies for wardrobe and complete lifestyle.
In big city I had a private pharmacist who made the emulsions himself, absolutely never allowed me to use anything more than a harmless lipozyme-based serum, my roommate was also given retinol, he claimed that skin is young till 35 and that's all I need for now.
Rorschachs 😂 in that case you should check out Andy Warhols!
Oh! I have nothing against makeup, either. Hope I didn't sound like I did. Makeup is art, for sure. But also camouflage, in the wrong situation. Or right. Who am I to judge...
You'll get no mascara shame from me. I like grocery store/pharmacy waterproof mascara. For reasons previously mentioned. Plus it rains 6 months out of the year, here.
I only just barely learned about retinol. I guess that's a need-to-know basis thing, though, that comes with age...
These are very interesting conceptual photographs, I love the creativity.
It was fun to play a bit (:
I loved these photos and also what you talk about beauty 🙌.
😊
Beautifully done photos that flow with your words.
It's best to pay little to no attention to external definitions of what beauty is. That constantly changes and is dependent upon perception.
Glad you enjoyed both :)
That would be good, but is it feasible nowadays...
B&W photography, in my experience, is not so simple as it may appear and your photos could stand alone telling their own story, but I like them together with your words also.
Feasible in what way?
In way not to pay attention or less attention.
Black and white photography gives so much to admirer, to me it's a real enjoyment to spread color enigma, to others (like my photography professor) it's covering mistakes. But real bw ph is play with contrast and whiteness, there shall be no grays.
Oh my you must check out this bw landscape artist https://instagram.com/michaelschlegelphotography?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==
It depends then, on the individual, their specific situation, what they want/need...which shoes fit best for them to walk about with.
Yes. It's what I started with but no matter what I've done, I have never lost my interest in it.
I checked. Instant hit the mark, oh yeah, love his work, totally decadent. Thank you.
Yay! 🤗
