Human's Greatest Companion - Dogs!
Hello everyone!
In the light of Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 252. Here's my take on
'Cats or dogs, which do you prefer and why?'
Meet my pretty girl- Rexi.

Story time: My grandparents have always had a pet dog around, to keep them company while they go about their farm work on their 2-acre land. The last pet they had was given to them by a family member from a litter of pups from their own dog. He was called Brownie and after he passed away, nobody felt like getting another pet because of how heartbreaking and devastating losing a pet is. Nevertheless, my grandpa being the practical man that he is decided to get another one because he had to venture out on the farm at the crack of dawn and felt safer doing it alongside a dog.
So, I drove down to pickup my grandparents, and we headed to a local adoption shelter to find us a new pet. Amid all the dogs there, my grandma set her eyes on this pretty girl who wasn’t as jumpy as the rest of them. To my surprise, she took a liking to me instantly. We filled out the paperwork and took her to get vaccinated. Once she got all her shots, we took her back to my grandparents’ house and its safe to say she loved her new home. One look at the place and this girl that was sitting quietly at the adoption center being to hop, skip, jump and run up and down the length of this huge farm.

Cut to today, Rexi is extremely happy living with my grandparents and each time I drive down to visit her, she is still ecstatic. She is grown to be a proper farm dog with tall, strong legs from running across the farm. She has come over to visit us at my parents’ home too, but considering it is much smaller home, she gets agitated after a couple of days. Although, one way to pacify her is to take some pictures of her. Whenever I visit her or she visits me, I whip out my phone and she immediately becomes a poser. She also gets along very well with familiar faces around the farm but gets equally cautious when there are new faces.
My mother on the other hand has a strict no-pets policy, but she has a soft spot for the cats in the area. She feeds them on a daily basis so these cats are almost always hanging out within the compound of our house. Whenever Rexi visits, the sweet girl that she is, she tries to be friends with the cats but the cats usually shoo her away.
Which brings me to why I prefer dogs over cats- As much I love both these beings, dogs top the list for me since they are always by your side. They're the friendliest and the most loving souls. Their playfulness is entertaining and their dramatic antiques lift up everyone’s spirits. Dogs love their humans beyond everything and yet have enough love to give to others, even cats in Rexi’s case😂. They are also fiercely loyal and we owe so much gratitude to Rexi for being as concerned for my grandpa’s wellbeing as the rest of us.
She is such a gem of a pet and if I had my way, she’d live with us forever! I also hope that one day I get to have a pet dog of my own, and when I do, I wish this pet has all the qualities my Rex has❤️

Rexi is such a cutie ❤️✨ she’s found a great home with your grandparents 🤌🏼 you should adopt another one for yourself, it’ll be fun 😂
You know the problem with that, don't you?😂
I do 😹

She looks like such a great dog :) Maybe your mom would allow you to have one if you ask before your birthday?
She is!
As much as I would like to have one, I live in an apartment and I don't think it's fair for a dog to be confined within.
Maybe a tiny low energy breed would enjoy your lifestyle?
Hahah maybe but I don’t enjoy this lifestyle so not just yet😆
This post has brought back the most beautiful memories of my childhood at my grandparents' house. I had an Akeman shepherd dog who was very playful. Here at home, we've always had dogs as pets. But after the death of my dog Cirse, we haven't had another affectionate pet. She got sick and died. The virus, according to doctors, persists for several years in the soil and can infect other animals. I really wish I had a dog again. Thank you for this post.
That is so sweet! It is truly painful when a pet passes away and to get over them takes even longer. I hope you get to adopt a dog soon.
They truly bring joy around our lives!
Thanks for going through my article!😄
It's very sad, yes. But I'll soon have to adopt a Rottweiler puppy. My brother has to emigrate, and he's leaving us with that giant baby.
Oh that's awesome news! Good luck to you raising this pup!
