Crisis at Shelter.

After being saved by a mysterious stranger, I rushed back toward my shelter upon receiving a disturbance alert. I found the shelter wrecked, with Lou and Fragile missing. Following fresh footprints on my vehicle, I located Fragile severely injured, but Lou was not around.

I felt confused by the strange man who saved me. He came out of nowhere, dealt with the situation, and walked away without saying a single word.

I had no idea what his deal was or why he helped me, but I knew I could not waste time dwelling on it. I had to focus entirely on getting back to my shelter safely.

As I traveled, I noticed that the area was surprisingly quiet. I did not see any bandits around this place, even though I fought several of them on my way through this side earlier.

Just as I thought I was in the clear, I received an urgent message on my system. It was a destruction alert confirming gunfire and a major disturbance right at my shelter. My personal space was under attack.

I needed to move to the shelter much faster, but then I noticed a new problem. The battery on my Tri-Cruiser was running critically low.

I did not want to stop to charge it because I was already so close to my destination. I pushed the vehicle as far as it could go, and luckily, it held out until I reached the shelter grounds before completely running out of power.

I stepped off the vehicle and readied my assault rifle, completely uncertain of what kind of threat was waiting inside for me. I moved carefully toward the entrance and stepped through the door.

It looked like nobody was home, but the entire place was completely messed up. Furniture was overturned, items were scattered everywhere, and it was obvious that a violent fight had taken place. Neither Lou nor Fragile was inside.

I stepped back outside to search the perimeter and scanned the surrounding ground for any traces. Soon, I picked up fresh footprints in the dirt leading away from the shelter. I figured they had to belong to Fragile.

I equipped a portable generator using my PCC to build a quick charging station right next to my shelter. Once the generator was up and running, I hooked up my Tri-Cruiser and waited for the battery tank to fill up.

As soon as the vehicle was fully charged, I rode out into the terrain, carefully following the footprint trails across the ground. After tracking the path for a distance, I finally found Fragile off in the distance.

Lou was not with her. Fragile was heavily injured, covered in marks, and she collapsed unconscious right into Sam's arms the moment he reached her. Something terrible had clearly happened.

Sam carried her back to the shelter and treated her injuries, patching up her arms as best as he could. It was a massive relief when she finally regained consciousness.

As soon as she opened her eyes, Sam asked what had happened to Lou. Fragile explained that they were ambushed out of nowhere, and everything happened so fast that she could not protect...

Walking into the shelter and seeing everything completely wrecked was such a bad feeling, especially with both Lou and Fragile nowhere to be found. I'm hoping nothing bad happened to Lou.

The moment that destruction alert came through, the peaceful ride was over because apparently Sam could never get one quiet trip back home.

Following those footprints through the terrain felt like a proper detective moment, and thankfully they actually led you to Fragile. Though, not to the condition you were hoping for I guess.

The shelter being destroyed was such a shocking sight. After spending so much time building it up, seeing everything destroyed felt heartbreaking.
