Salt pans and scenic views, the heart of Trapani and Paceco
Today I invite you along Paceco a town near Trapani in Sicily, also know as the Saline di Trapani e Paceco. This area is a significant protected nature reserve, home to several unique birds species. I really wanted to visit this place because here are flamingos, but unfortunately they were too far away to observe them closely or to take nice photos. The salt pans are located just a short drive from Trapani and Paceco, you will finde several signs, a symphony of nature, birds, salt and tradition
Of course the salt pans in this area are defining feature of this region of Sicily. They have a rich history of salt production and are considered one of the most significant salt producing areas in Italy.

The Trapani Salt Pans from here have been used for salt salt extraction since ancient times, dating back to the Phoenicians and Romans. the salt works are still active today. the lagons is home to migratory birds, such as flamingos and herons as well as many species of fish.

The salt pans stretch for miles in every direction and the iconic windmills are still in use today. Up close the salt crystal themselves sparkle like tiny diamonds. the distinctive flavor of the salt adds an extra layer of depth to the local fine dishes.

The salt pans offer fantastic photographic opportunities at sunrise and sunset, Unfortunately, I was too late. 30 Min from here you can arrive Marsala famous for its wine and historical center, next time more.

Have a Great weekend!
