Come with me to the Peters Island
Today I invite you to the St. Peters island near Biel, Switzerlan. There are two ways to reach the island: by boat across the lake or along the Heideweg trail, which takes about an hour to walk through reeds, woods, and bushes. It's also possible to get there by bike, which is much faster if you have an e-bike. The island is also accessible by boat from the town of Biel. The island is formed during the last ice age, when the Rhone Glacier reached as far as the Jura Mountains. Here is the ship station. A beautiful place for a day trip with a picnic, bathing, and relaxing in the natural surroundings.
An enchanting attraction for all visitors. Whether you visit on foot, by bike, or by boat, when you see the island rising out of Lake Biel, with its sunny vineyards, small sandy beaches, and tall forests, you will be captivated by its charm. If you're lucky, you may even see the many birds.
Founded in 1127, the monastery on St. Peter's Island is now an award-winning hotel and restaurant with a unique atmosphere where many events are celebrated. Yesterday, two weddings were celebrated there, as well as other small events.
St. Petersinsel has always been a place where people gathered, a cultural and spiritual center.
It is the one and only island in Lake Biel. It is located in the southwestern part of the lake near Erlach and has been connected to the mainland by a flat spit of land since the second half of the 19th century, and is therefore actually a peninsula.
Hve a great Weekend!
