Along the lake Zurich

It was on a beautiful , sublime Sunday, a short trip with the ship from Rapperswil to Zurich. The trigger for the development of tourism here was the arrival of the first steamboat, the Minerva, on July 29, 1835, just in front of the town of Rapperswil.

In the background is the castle, which is situated on a rocky outcrop and is surrounded by water on three sides. This way, the castle was naturally protected and dominates the old town below.

What a gorgeous photo! That castle view from the water is absolutely stunning. A short ship trip sounds like the perfect, beautiful Sunday activity. Thanks for sharing the bit of history about the Minerva and the start of tourism. It's fascinating how a single steamboat arrival can change an entire region!
