#836 - Ilocos Norte Shots for Thursday.
Greetings this evening dearest Hiveans. It's about time of my rest day in just a couple of hours. Friday and Saturday is my off for this month of August which is fine as long as there's a weekend off. My mother-in-law earlier today asked a carpenter to be install four galvanized flushing on the side of the roof because last time when the typhoon came, her room had water drops coming from the side of the roof which then soaked the plywood and her cabinet among other stuff. So since it's a sunny day today she went to look for her favorite carpenter to complete the job and hopefully this next rainy day there's no more rain water coming from the ceiling.
For today is about Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. The Kapurpurawan Rock Formations are a natural wonder located in the town of Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. These unique rock formations are situated along the shores of the South China Sea and have been attracting tourists and nature enthusiasts alike for years. On our second day of stay in Pagudpud is when we went to explore this town to see first hand the huge area of limestones stretching along the shoreline. I was with my family and another friend in this mini adventure.
The rocks themselves are primarily limestone, which has been carved over time by the erosive forces of the sea, wind, and rain. This natural process has created an array of fantastical shapes and structures, including towering spires, arches, and intricate patterns that appear almost otherworldly.
Visitors like us to Kapurpurawan Rock Formations can explore the area via a short hike along a well-maintained trail, which takes you through a lush forest before emerging onto the rocky coastline but an umbrella is definitely needed when start the trail because it's hot out there. There are mini stores from the jump off point that rent off umbrellas. The views of the surrounding sea and sky are breathtaking, with the rock formations themselves providing a dramatic backdrop which also includes windmills in this area aside from those found in Bangui.
Next stop we had was Bangui Windmills Farm in Bangui Ilocos Norte which is eighteen kilometers away from the rock formations and about thirty minutes of travel time. The wind farm has become a major tourist attraction in the region, with visitors flocking to see these massive structures spinning in the breeze although some were still when we visited. The windmills have also become an iconic symbol of Ilocos Norte's commitment to sustainable development and environmental safekeeping.
Aside from generating clean energy, the Bangui Wind Farm has also had a positive impact on the local economy, providing jobs and income for the residents of Bangui and surrounding areas. There's lots of souvenirs stores than can be found in the farm. The wind farms also serves as a model for other renewable energy demonstrating that wind power can be both environmentally friendly and economically viable.
Follow me on my nature travels.
