#1184 - Critters and Flowers Shots for Thursday.

Now for our daily shots one late morning in Baguio City where my wife and I found ourselves wandering into a wooded area near and facing the famous Mansion. The temperature was perfectly cool which isva typical, refreshing day in the City of Pines. While most tourists were busy taking photos of the grand presidential summer house from the main gate, I went into a thick patch of woods where nature is a bit wild.

The woods were lush and filled with a dense variety of plants that thrive in Baguio’s high altitude weather. There were wild bushes and small patches of colorful wildflowers. It was a peaceful escape from the city streets just a few meters away.

I noticed that the flowers were alive with tiny busy visitors. I pulled out my camera to take some close up photos of this hidden world. The first insects that caught my eye were the honeybees buzzing from bloom to bloom. It was fascinating to watch it up close gathering nectar with its legs dusted with pollens.

Moving further I spotted a different kind of insect which were blue flies or blow flies. They have this distinct, shiny, metallic blue green color. Watching them in this setting was actually quite beautiful. Just like the bees, they were very interested in the flowers.

I spent a good time just standing here in the woods, completely absorbed in their miniature world. It was amazing to realize that just steps away from the gates of The Mansion was this busy macroworld happening.
