#1116 - More of Ambuklao Dam Shots for Saturday.
A joyful Saturday to us all, Hive family! I hope you are waking up feeling refreshed and ready for this wonderful weekend. Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy this beautiful day to the fullest. Wishing you all a safe, happy and restful Saturday ahead😍.
And now right after an exhausting but incredible journey hiking Mount Tabayoc in Kabayan, Benguet, we pushed on our drive back towards civilization, and made a stop at the Ambuklao Dam. It was already late in the afternoon almost four o'clock and the sunlight was changing rapidly beginning to dip lower in the sky with dramatic shadows across the landscape.

The scale of the structure is always humbling but it was the scene on the water that truly still captivated us many times. As we stood by the roadside with the large reservoir, it's the time of day when the local working community that reside on the other side of the dam were returning home. Because their homes are located across the water, there's small wooden boats or bancas by the port as their primary mode of transport.

We watched in silence as they paddled away one banca after another. It was a peaceful sight to observe the bancas on the dock. The boats were small, simple and clearly designed for daily use. The locals carried small bags or tools and were careful before stepping on the rocking boats from the solid ground.

This dock serves as their transit point for the residents. We walked and sat down almost to the water's edge. The air was already getting cool and the water calm. It was the perfect spot to capture a memory of our trip and so we took photos though weary but happy.

We spent a good amount of time just observing the scene while the afternoon light slowly fading, we felt restful for this stopover and with photos we took as a wonderful remembrance of this day right here now on Hive.
