Once upon a time back in March of last year, we were tired but happy during our ride back from Mount Pulag when we're on our way back to Baguio City when we were near the large concrete Ambuklao Dam. My wife and I had stopped here a couple of times before and since we had our friend Dandreb with us, we couldn't let him miss it. So, we turn right and left the main road track that leads to the dam's vantage point.

That late afternoon the air was crisp and staring to get cold. It was already four in the afternoon and the temperature was dropping fast. Before us, the scene was a masterpiece of calm. The Ambuklao Dam with a massive lake of perfectly still waters that can mirror the sky. It was a breathtaking vantage point with the forest covered mountains of Bokod Benguet.

We walked toward the edge of the scale of this engineering which was humbling. From below, we could hear the powerful rush of water. A small torrent was gushing from the watergate going down into the riverbed far below.

"This is why we stopped," I told Dandreb, as he took out his phone and take photos. We spent the next 20 mins as tourists do, taking photos. Shots of the endless dam water, the towering dam, the mountains around us. We went back into the Isuzu Crosswind, our workhorse then we drove back onto the main road going back to Baguio City with the dam in our rearview mirror
