#1102 - Random Intramuros Shots for Friday.

Good morning and a happy Friday to us all dear Hiveans around the world! Here's to a Friday filled with smooth progress, great conversations and a week sense of completion. Enjoy the day and a wonderful and refreshing weekend ahead. All the best to you and our incredible Hive community😍.

One upon a late morning with the wife and I as we stepped into Intramuros the "Walled City" of Manila. We decided to walk along the top of the old walls with the wide ramparts. Up here you get a sense of the city's fortified island of history.

We paused at one of the ancient cannons still point outside for defense. I touched the metal while trying to imagine the soldiers who stood guard here centuries ago.

Then we wandered into the quiet streets, in the Spanish-era buildings that have survived war and time. It's breathtaking to think these buildings has stood since the late Spanish colonization on 16th century.

Our government both local and national, has done incredible restoration work on these buildings and the city itself. Crumbling stonework has been repaired, gardens have been made and all in it tell the stories of what happened there.

Our late morning stroll ended with a quiet moment in one of the plazas and their rooftops where we felt a deep appreciation. These meticulous preservation efforts aren't just about saving old stones.

It's about keeping a nation's memory alive, both the good and the painful memories, so that future children and their children can walk these same walls and have a connection to their own history.
