#1081 - Macroshots of Blue Flies for Friday.

Good morning, dearest Hiveans across the world! Here's to another work week’s journey and hope you’re carrying a sense of pride for all the stuff we’ve done as the sweet, personal freedom awaits for the weekend😍. Have a wonderful Friday.

Now for our daily shots through the macro lens of my ZS110, here's the world of the common large blue flies which is what we often see as nasty flies nuisance. Their body has this sort of metallic armor that's shimmering sunlight hits just right. Their enormous eyes are like helmets, could be seeing a world we can never imagine.

It’s amazing to watch where they choose to nap or land or stay for a moment. They are drawn to the decaying flowers in the garden. Perhaps the decaying flowers provide an environment with microorganisms they could eat. These critters are not necessarily pests but essential cleaners that are attracted to what is dead and returning it to the earth as I have seen in Natgeo and other nature series in television, even online.

Then my lens follows other flies to some tiny yellow daisy like flowers just nearby. Here, the flies are not scavengers but like a pollinator. It sip the fresh and sweet nectar from these yellow flower’s heart. This is where they could be a direct competition for our beloved honeybees😅. It made us realize that nature is vast and includes roles for all kinds just like them blue flies.

The flies were also perfectly still on the yellow flowers. The close-up shot sees the delicate structures on its legs, the patterns on its wings and the contrast between its blue body and the yellow flowers. Through the macro shots, we see the nasty beings becomes fascinating even in the most unlikely of places.
