While walking in El Ávila with my family, on the path that enters Sabas Nieves but heading toward the Quintero creek, I came across this larva of a very unique beauty.

This larva is most likely a Hercules Beetle (Dynastes hercules), one of the world's most impressive and fascinating insects! It is a rhinoceros beetle, famous for its enormous size and incredible strength."

The larva is the longest phase of its life, lasting up to 2 years. These larvae feed on highly decayed wood, which helps make those nutrients more available to plants, thus completing a cycle that allows the exuberance and beauty of El Ávila to be maintained—it is the mountain's best ally.

Paseando por el Avila con mi familia, en la via que entra a sabas nieves pero dirigiéndome a la quebrada quintero me conseguí esta larva de una belleza muy particular.

Esta larva es muy probablemente un Escarabajo Hércules (Dynastes hercules) es uno de los insectos más impresionantes y fascinantes del mundo! Es un escarabajo rinoceronte, famoso por su enorme tamaño y su increíble fuerza.

La larva es la fase de su vida mas larga de hasta 2 años, estas larvas se alimentan de madera muy podrida lo que permite hacer mas disponible para las plantas esos nutrientes y cerrando así un ciclo que permite que la exuberancia y belleza del Avila se mantengan, es el mejor aliado de la montaña.
