CCC's Street Art Contest Manuela Saens, the liberator of the liberator / manuela saens la libertadora del libertador
ENGLISH VERSION
During the liberation struggle in Venezuela and what later became the great Colombia, Bolívar was one of its greatest figures, the military and political genius who managed to defeat the great Spanish Empire, which was the largest empire of that time.
However, there were also great heroines in the independence struggle who, with their contributions, contributed to the independence struggle, such as Manuela Saens, known as the Liberator of the Liberator. An Ecuadorian woman who, in addition to being his lover, was a great supporter of Bolívar. She saved his life by preventing an assassination attempt by helping him flee while he confronted the assassins. This was known as the September Conspiracy, which took place in Bogotá, Colombia, on September 25, 1828.
A group of Bolívar's opponents broke into the San Carlos Palace (where Bolívar was sleeping) with the intention of assassinating him. Manuela, hearing the commotion and realizing the danger, interposed herself between the conspirators and Bolívar's room.
While she distracted and confronted the attackers, giving them time to suspect Bolívar was there, she gave Bolívar time to escape through a window. For this heroic act, Bolívar affectionately called her The Liberator of the Liberator.
In addition to being named Colonel of the Colombian Army by Simón Bolívar himself, and this distinction awarded to her even though she did not directly fight in battles as a regular soldier, her active presence on the front lines, her logistical support for the troops, her ability to gather information, and her steadfastness in the face of danger were recognized as a valuable contribution to the independence cause.
This mural shows her in a military uniform, representing the distinction she was awarded, which she earned with her invaluable contribution. It is located between the Gato Negro station and near Miraflores. I created the main photo by curating several photos throughout the mural so that it can be fully appreciated and its beauty can be appreciated.
I hope you like it. I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
