When Architecture Had A Soul

There’s something about old buildings that new ones just can’t imitate. Maybe it’s the way their walls seem to hold whispers of stories long told, or how every crack and corner feels like a quiet witness to time itself.
This old church in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria caught my eye, not because it’s perfect, but because it isn’t. The weathered bricks, the towering spire, the way it stands proudly against the sky… it has character. It has seen generations come and go, celebrations and silences, faith and fading paint — yet it remains, steady and dignified.
Modern structures might shine brighter, but old ones remind us that beauty isn’t always about perfection. Sometimes, it’s about endurance — the kind that only age can teach.
