Joyful Journeys: Koniuszanka - land of ponds and beavers.

Is there anything more pleasant than immersing yourself in wild nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city? In today's post, I will describe a journey through the Koniuszanka II nature reserve located in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.

It was established in 1978 to preserve borderland forest stands and a gorge section of the Koniuszanka River, flowing into Lake Omulew. The area covers over 64 hectares.

The reserve is perfectly suited for tourists - it is characterised by clear trails, benches and many information boards, from which you can learn, for example, to recognise tree species.

Various types of trees can be found in the reserve: black alder, common hazel, pine or hornbeam. There is also no shortage of animals. We could hear birds singing all along the way, and we managed to spot a woodpecker in one of the trees.

There are many ponds in the Koniuszanka area, and consequently beavers. Thanks to the dams, they retain and store water, which improves the water balance of the adjacent areas. In the reserve it is impossible not to notice the interference of these animals in the environment.

The dead oak visible in the photo above is the oldest oak in the reserve. Its age is estimated to be around 480 years. Before the First World War, it was named "Kaiser Wilhem Elche" in honour of the German Kaiser Wilhelm. At the time it was recognised by the Germans as a protected natural monument.

Together with Matthew we were delighted with the reserve, it definitely lived up to our expectations. Watching the wildlife and nature was inspiring and informative for me. It was also a great break from everyday life. We will definitely return here again sometime to complete the trail.

Czy istnieje coś bardziej przyjemnego niż zanurzenie się w dzikiej przyrodzie, z dala od miejskiego zgiełku? W dzisiejszym poście opiszę podróż po znajdującym się w województwie warmińsko-mazurskim rezerwacie przyrody Koniuszanka II.

Został on utworzony w 1978 roku na rzecz zachowania kresowych stanowisk zespołów leśnych oraz przełomowego odcinka rzeki Koniuszanka, wpadającej do jeziora Omulew. Teren zajmuje ponad 64 hektary.

Rezerwat jest idealnie przystosowany dla turystów - charakteryzują go czyste szlaki, ławeczki i wiele tabliczek informacyjnych, z których można nauczyć się na przykład rozpoznawać gatunki drzew.

W rezerwacie można znaleźć różne rodzaje drzew: olszę czarną, leszczynę pospolitą, sosnę czy grab. Nie brakuje również zwierząt. Przez całą drogę słychać było śpiew ptaków, a na jednym z drzew udało nam się dostrzec dzięcioła.

Na terenie Koniuszanki znajduje się wiele stawów, a co za tym idzie bobrów. Dzięki tamom zatrzymują i magazynują one wodę, co poprawia bilans wodny przyległych terenów. W rezerwacie nie sposób jest nie zauważyć ingerencji tych zwierząt w środowisko.

Martwy dąb widoczny na zdjęciu powyżej jest najstarszym dębem w rezerwacie. Jego wiek szacuje się na około 480 lat. Przed I wojną światową nosił nazwę "Kaiser Wilhem Elche" na cześć niemieckiego cesarza Wilhelma. Był wówczas uznawany przez Niemców za chroniony pomnik przyrody.

Razem z Mateuszem byliśmy zachwyceni rezerwatem, zdecydowanie spełnił on nasze oczekiwania. Obserwowanie dzikich zwierząt i natury były dla mnie inspirujące i pouczające. Było to również świetne oderwanie od codzienności. Z pewnością jeszcze kiedyś tu wrócimy, aby dokończyć szlak.
