Beneath the Old Bridge

The most atmospheric places are often found by chance. You turn off the road, wander down a forest trail, and suddenly find yourself wading through a cool stream beneath an old stone bridge.
You make your way from stone to stone, pausing now and then to look up — at the arches of the bridge, at the light filtering through the trees.
In the morning, the bridge dissolves into the soft light; by evening, it darkens among the trees. Summer brings lush green foliage, autumn carpets the stones and paths in golden leaves, and winter turns everything quiet and austere.
In photographs, the place looks a little different every time, yet somehow just as good — whether in color or in black and white.
