A Walk to Connect with Nature

Lately we’ve been trying to get out more often, even if it’s just to get some fresh air close to home. Even though the zoo isn’t my favorite place—it bores me quite a bit—it really helps take my mind off things on days when I’m not feeling so great. Today we walked around a bit, and I laughed a lot at my son’s antics. He was also feeding some of the animals at the zoo, and it was really funny because he was so scared of them—there was even a moment when he almost ran away from a goat. The goat wasn’t actually doing anything to him; it just wanted some food, but he got scared for a second, hahaha. I got a little nervous when a monkey approached him, since monkeys can sometimes be unpredictable, but this little monkey happily accepted the food—we gave him some bananas.

And it's become a tradition for us to eat strawberries with cream at the zoo; they're really delicious but a little pricey.

We spent about two and a half hours there, walking around and eating. There were already more people at the zoo compared to a few weeks ago, when it was practically empty; life has returned to normal.

One of my favorite animals to see at the zoo, and one that never ceases to amaze me, are the hippos. They're so big and seem so unreal. They're living where the elephant who died here years ago used to live, and at least they look well cared for and well fed. Years ago, when there was a food crisis, I remember the animals at the zoo were very malnourished. I don't know how much they feed all the animals now, but they all look quite healthy.

Getting some fresh air at the zoo is quite relaxing, especially when there aren't too many people, but going with a child requires a lot of walking and being more attentive to everything haha, so it can be a little stressful at times.

Going for an outdoor walk always recharges your energy. So nice to see the animals looking so well cared for these days.
This hippo makes a impression!
